Hours on a Proline

Recommended Posts

We recently welcomed a 2001 19 Proline Sport to our family. I went to look for the hours on the engine and there is no meter anywhere. It's got a 125 Mercury on it. Anyone have an idea of where I could find the hours? :504_shrugging:

Hour meters are often not to be trusted anyway.

A certified MERC tech with his computer should answer the question.

WELCOME TO OUR FAMILY, THANK YOU FOR BEING A PRO-LINE OWNER!

Mike,

Wondering if the 125 has a diagnostic port on it. If I'm not mistaken, the 125 was formerly a Force motor that was rebadged as a "Mercury Classic" motor...not too sophistocated.

Mike F, as Mike C said, call a dealer's service department, give them the S/N of your motor, and see if the hours can be determined.

I've had one since new, the answer is no from my merc dealer.

I'm not aware of the MERC once being a FORCELER.

You have a 125 carb MERC I assume.

I dont recall that motor ever being a FORCE.

I need to do a little more research, but... :471_confused_face:

Bob,

I'm only aware of using the "ELPTO".

The "Classic" is maybe something I'm missing.

BAYLINER bought FORCE, then BRUNSWICK bought BAYLINER.

I remember some FORCE outboards then being called MERCURY.

That could be the "Classic" question here.

I dont think the 125 ELPTO that we used was a FORCELER with a MERCURY hat on it.

If I missed that, well, shame on me.

But, I spun wrenches on CHRYSLERS, and FORCELERS and do not think we're talking about the same outboard motors here.

I've missed, for whatever reason, the "Classic" terminology here.

Perhaps the "Classic" is a FORCELER?

But, I dont recall any "Classic" being used by us.

Bob,

Better said, having to do with my reply, a correction:

BAYLINER bought CHRYSLER, renamed them FORCE, then BRUNSWICK bought BAYLINER, and FORCE.

Thus my "FORCELER" terminology.

I think this is making my brain hurt, and there's not all that much to work with in that department anymore.
