can you upgrade from Furuno NN2 to NN3D?

There are some components that work with both and some components that don't. For example, you would have to change out the display and the radar antenna. You can keep the old GPS antenna, BBFF1 fish finder, transducer, sirius weather module, AIS, ethernet hub and probably the network cables. The radar antenna cable is now ethernet, instead of the special radar cable. Hope this helps.

The NN2 headunits cannot be configured/upgraded to NN3 TimeZero chartplotting.

I do no believe the new NN3 radars will interface with your NN2 headunit either. The new radars run over an ethernet cable instead of the big signal/power cables.

As previously mentioned, some of the components that interface with your NN2 system will also work with a new NN3 system - autopilot, DFF1, BBWX1 (weather), RD30, GPS antenna, etc.
