Dodge "Death Wobble"

Recommended Posts

So last night driving home from work, I experience the dreaded Dodge Death Wobble firsthand at 70 mph on Interstate 75 South. It was like I had square front tires with 30 degrees of toe-in. Good thing I am the best driver in the world. (just ask my wife) I expertly reduced speed and got into the fast lane shoulder. Got out and took a look. Everything seemed ok so I crept up to speed and made it home without another occurrence.

Today what shows up in the mail? Dodge Recall H46.

:753_hammer_hitting_head:

"Please bring your 2006 Dodge Power Wagon in to a local dealer before you crash & die without warning."

Anybody here experience the Dodge Death Wobble????

Here's a video and news report about it:

I'm not sure but I may have seen that in action last Monday. I495 southbound, just before rt3 in Lowell Mass.

Good sized black Dodge pickup up against the Jersey barrier. It looked like some kind of rod underneath with one end attached somehwhere under the engine and a loose end dangling towards the left front tire.

If that's what could be your problem I would drive slowly or have it brought in on a flat-bed. Good luck!

That's what it would look like if the drag link breaks. Problem with this H46 recall is threefold (possibly more issues).

1. Drag link

2. Steering Damper

3. Pittman arm

Hmmmmm... Guess I better not ignore the postcard I recently got about the same thing - - Recall: H46 STEERING LINKAGE

I had pretty much the same thing happen with the old '98 Dodge; felt like the whole front end was going to disintegrate. Instead of getting it fixed, I traded it in on the '06 2500.

How many miles on your Power Wagon ? I've got about 47K on mine.
