fuel keeps turning brown in the racor

Recommended Posts

Im wondering if the change of fuel color is due to ethenol eating the fuel lines? i cant figure out why it would change from blue to brown after sitting for a day?

I've noticed that on mine too. Fresh fuel seems to have a lot less 'color'. After sitting for a while in the Racor it gets a bit of a brown tint. Don't know if its good or bad, but I've been noticing this for 2 years and so far it doesn't seem to hurt anything.

The Ethanol is "cleaning" old varnish from the inside of you tank.

Your best bet is to stop now, get the tank cleaned, replace the screen on the pick up tube, replace the anti-siphon valve, replace all hoses, clamps and filters.

When Ethanol mixes with the old varnish, it turns into a power, corrosive cocktail that will make you wish you never owned a boat.

This is becoming the "norm" these days.

The Fight in NC is on.
