OMC Cobra steering cable R&R

I have an 86 OMC cobra o/d I am replacing the steering cable and rack and pinion in. My Seloc manual says nada about the steering cable R&R. What is the proceedure, so I don't undo unnecessary stuff, to remove the cable from the o/d power steering assy? Looks to me like the steering tube needs to come loose, remove the valve guide from the actuator and take off the nuts holding the cable assy to the steering tube. Am I on the right track? Missing something? What connects the cable to the steering tube?

I hope you are replacing it with hydraulic steering. The parts diagram is here. Hope it helps

Are you referring to hydraulic from the helm back to the stern drive? It already has power assist back at the drive.

Not sure this 20 footer needs hydraulic all the way. It seemed to handle fine as it is.....just had a fair amount of play in the wheel....it was the original Morse rack/pinion and cable.
