yamaha f150 trouble

Recommended Posts

Our port f150 yamaha engine stopped running. It ran fine and then couldn't idle anym ore. I Changed the fuel filter, it made no difference. While the engine was not on and the boat not moving the speedometer read 44 mph, could the speed sensor be bad and effect the engine's computer? The engine diagnostic had 001 trouble free code but the alarm was buzzing. Any ideas? Please help.

Does it turn over? My F150 had an intermittent issue where it would quit running. When trying to restart it by turning the key, the motor would not turn over. The hour meter would light up and the fuel gauge would peg hard to the right past "Full". The trim switch would not work. After lots of time trying to figure this out, it turned out to be the ground lead where it was attached to the block. The ground lead seemed tight, but whoever attached it at the factory cross-threaded it and it eventually arced enough over time to cause a bad ground. The tech said he could see it arcing when he turned the key and watched the spot where the ground attached to the motor. He moved the ground lead to the bolt at the bottom of the starter. Problem solved!
