I snapped this photo a couple of years ago on an early sword run about 15 miles off FLL. Anybody know what type this one is? I was pretty much out of sight of land and feeling pretty inferior to this guy. I chose not to approach . . .

From the flat section behind the sail, it appears to be a ballistic missile sub (boomer). The flat section is the missile tubes.

The Navy has magnetic numbers and Letters for its subs. They are removed when transiting an area that may have people interested in which boats are in port and which are deployed. The name/numbers are put on when at the base so people will know which ones they are working on. The Hun
