Weird Engine Troubles

Recommended Posts

Dan and Chris are planning a 3 day trip this weekend, so I'm thinking they must have gotten the gunk cleaned out.

Yep. Everything seems fine. We looked at the oil last night, again. There weren't any "clumps" and the oil levels were just as we expected (no issues with "making oil").

I'm guessing the oil change frequency was a bit lacking with the previous owner. We've had two successful trips, now, without any issue. Let's hope it stays that way!

Bring on the sunshine and flat water!

Just an FYI on the injectors, the "Evinrude Fuel System Cleaner" they have a conditioner but not the same. This stuff is the chit for cleaning the injectors, my boat had been sitting when I bought it and needed 2 shots, started getting ragged a year later at 1200 - 2000 - another shot and within 30 minutes smooth again. With your winter period I would maybe do it 1st time each season on deposit ratio, they give a maintaince ratio as well but I don't use it that much, little pricey but great stuff.

Sounds like blow by or crank case leakage. I preach this to all of my customers, use Yamaha ring free in every tank of gas. Unlike the stuff you get at the auto store, it really makes a huge difference in the carbon build up in these motors, especially 115 four strokes. What ever you do, do not put a crankcase flusher in your outboards unless you want to buy a new pair soon. Just advice from a 12 year certified Yamaha technician.
