  1. Just like the Saints, as soon as you have the playoffs locked, pull the first string and let them rest for the playoffs. It works ... the Saints last game was a little example. The Colts set that one up nicely, they can blow the Jets completly out of the stadium if they want to.
  2. Indy looks like a mortal lock bet at -7 1/2 ... they should win by 3 TD's +.
  3. It's not over till the fat lady sings. The Saints opened as 3 1/2-point favorites over the Vikings and are listed at 8-to-5 odds to win the Super Bowl, according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants. The Vikings are 7-to-2 odds of winning their first Super Bowl title.
  4. I hope they know what they're doing and not back to day 1.
  5. We're fishing Guatemala now but if I went back to Los Suenos I'd use Capt Tom's. http://www.captaintoms.com/index.htm
  6. FINALLY GOT MY ROD FINISHED 5 months in the making, 2 piece graphite/eglass composite special order blank. It took us 2 months to get this blank made, should throw poppers a distance. Storms cancelled us out this week, I'll test it on some yellowfin next week.
  7. You could give this one a try Lou. I've been comfortable with an old TDR two piece 9' 6" - 20-35 lb - heavy action for about 10 yrs.
  8. I'm becoming more skeptical about NOAA's forecast of this one turning more northerly, it's still on 15 N and now they're dropping the track down ... guess we'll see tomorrow.
  9. 8 to 5 ... Your Garmin's wrong if I can suck you into a bet.
  10. "Hunker Down!!"??? ... I'm too old for that, if it's over a cat 1 ... I'm putting the Pedal to the Metal!!!
  11. Hang around and get a beer Rick ... we might see some real action pretty soon.
  12. Yep ... and it looks like we're in store for a few more. Ooops ... Time to gas the car up and ice down a few cases.
  13. Are you thinking about wade fishing? http://www.wdam.com/Global/story.asp?S=10847169
  14. Nice work Lu .. wish I was a little closer to you.
  15. Some hard stainless were just listed on ebay ... they're strong Ebay item no: 370232188799 -- 5/8 shank 4"-5"-6" in. gap. ...................370232178056 -- 3/8 shank 2 1/2"-3" in. gap.
  16. I use glue on 'springy' large dia. fluoro/mono, but don't find it necessary on solid core spectra braid. I have no problem with my knot and a dacron sleeve on top would more than double it in size.
  17. Thanks Tim, I have a harpoon and flying gaff with 8' handles for big fish. Most fixed gaffs are nonferrous 300 series SS with no hardness (rigidity) for saltwater corrosion resistance. Upgrading to 1/2" dia. hooks with more weight is sufficient for most fishermen but I wouldn't be comfortable pulling a 200 lb yellowfin over the gunnel with it ... a mako would be out of the question. I'm presently testing a tempered 400 series SS gaff that I'm quite impressed with.
  18. Always looking for something better ... had a few Aftco's straighten ... Top Shots have been working for me but I've seen a few bent 3/8" tips on charter boats in Venice.
  19. Nice NC, I love the strong flat forged hooks too. I'm using hi carbon flat forged hooks (will rust) but they last a long time. Most of the small wire gold sabiki hooks will straighten out when lifting a 1 lb hardtail into the boat.
  20. I could crimp small sleeves on the nylon coated micro wire but I just tie it.
  21. We go through Sabiki's by the doz ... just have to adjust some for certain applications. Like micro tie-able wire for spanish mackerel / bluefish / etc.
