  1. I need info on wireless alarms. Somebody is breaking into my boat . Tonight I went down to my dock to run the engines and found all switches turned on including the pumps. They knew where to find the battery switches and turn them on. Pumps have been running for who knows how long. My dock has no power so there are no lights. Because this is my busy season I don't get down to the boat more than once a week. Any help would be most appreciated.
  2. Bill, Thanks for the information. I appreciate the chance to try this treatment. As I said previously I have noticed a difference in my engines performance throughout the RPM range. Great product. I will continue to add Startron to my fuel from now on. I was out today and my engines ran great. This would be my third day out since adding the Startron. I was fishing the rips for Stripers so the engines were idling for a while. Nice and smooth with no rough spots as they idled. Thanks again. Jim
  3. I received my bottle and added it to approximately 90 gallons of fuel, about a half tank in my boat. I have twin 200 HP Yamahas, the older carb versions. I have had problems with the ethanol so I couldn't wait to see how my boat performed with the Startron. I have run the boat the last two days and have noticed that the engines are running much smoother. At low speeds before they would tend to run rough and now having used about thirty gallons of treated fuel, at low speeds they are running like new. Actually throughout the RPM range the engines are running much better. My question to you is will this product help to prevent my carbs from getting gummed up from the ethanol when my boat sits idle for an extended period ? My business precludes me from using my boat during July and August. The boat is kept in front of my home so I do go down and start the engines a few times during the week. Last year my mechanic had to make multiple trips in the Fall to clean up my carbs. They finally pulled them and cleaned them at the shop. I ended up being down for about ten days. I look forward to hearing from you. This is an excellent product and I am very happy with my engines performance since adding your product. Thank you. Jim
  4. Thanks everyone. The geese must be nesting close to where my boat is docked. You have given me some great ideas. Thanks. Jim
  5. I'm not sure if you have hit twelve yet, but here goes.
  6. Thank you. Both are great ideas. I will be looking into both as a possible solution. The pair of geese have taken up residence close to my boat and like to perch on the gunwales leaving behind quite a mess. I'll let you know how this turns out. Thanks again. Jim
  7. Anyone out there have a way to keep the geese off the boat ? I have been in the water for a week and they are making a mess of the boat.
  8. Gus, What a beauty. One of my favorites. Keep the pictures coming.
  9. My mechanic thinks it is an ethanol problem. I do run stabilizer in the fuel. My Racors are clean with no sediment or water in the bowls.
  10. As another boating season approaches I thought I would throw this topic out there and see if anyone had an answer to my problem. I have a 28' Boston Whaler with twin 200 Yamahas. The engines are older 2 strokes and have carbs. I own a seasonal restaurant and so during the summer my boat sits for long periods. I use it extensively in the Spring and Fall. Last Fall after closing I went to go fishing and had all kinds of problems with the engines. My mechanic pulled the carbs off and took them to his shop for cleaning . The problem was that I was down for several days. I am hoping to avoid this problem . Anyone out there have any possible solutions. Thank you.
  11. Caveman, I am the original poster. Your unstated question is correct. Like you I would rather run my own boat. I rented a 26 Triton while in the Keys. The cost for the week was about two thousand dollars. That included fuel for the boat. The rental had been used pretty hard. When delivered it had not been cleaned, the live wells stank to high heaven. I keep my boat spotless. After fishing I make sure the boat is clean and then I check out the systems to make sure everything is set for my next day on the water. What kind of mileage do you get hauling with the V10 ? Thanks.
  12. Beautiful boat. I live on Cape Cod and here in Falmouth there is a Bertram that like your boat has been restored . It is absolutely a beauty. Whenever she cruises by my restaurant I stop and watch. Same model as your boat, but with a tower and navy blue hull. Enjoy the boat. I have enjoyed following your journey.
  13. Thanks for the new info. We won't be going down until January. Everyone has been great . There has been information that I wouldn't have thought about at all.
  14. Great work on the pics. I can't tell you how many time I have looked at them Here in the northeast our boats are out and wrapped for the winter. It's nice to sit back and look at these great shots. keep up the good work.
  15. Take it from someone who has owned both. I live in the northeast and in the Fall I much prefer my Boston Whaler WA. I have a hardtop with full curtains and in late October and early November it makes for great boating being out of the weather. I have a huge cockpit for fishing and if I have to go forward it isn't much of a problem. Mine is a 1992 hull. It was listed as the WA 23 but is actually 27'4" with the bracket. I have twin 200's. It is one of the best riding hulls I have owned. The cabin is plenty big enough to spend the night or weekend. The best thing about it is that my wife loves the boat. Good luck.
  16. Thanks to all for all the info. You have been most helpful. I will certainly do all that was suggested. Thanks again.
  17. I am trying to find information on the build schedule for one of these Cats. I have done various searches to no avail. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction ? Thanks.
  18. I am considering trailering my boat to Florida this winter. My truck is an F-250 and my boat is a Boston Whaler 23 Walkaround. The overall length is 27' . My trailer is three years old . Everything works, brakes, lights etc. Am I reaching hauling this boat for the distance ? I would rather use my own boat instead of renting one while we are there. Thanks. We are going from Cape Cod.
  19. I have a 1992 Boston Whaler walkaround with twin 200 Yamahas. I'm based in Woods Hole and generally fish Vineyard Sound and the bay . I was out today and it was pretty quiet.
  20. Thanks. I'm going to start with the cables this afternoon. I was playing with the throttles yesterday and found if I came back a little past neutral it would come out of gear.
  21. Thanks everyone for your input. We are going to check the cable first and if that isn't it on to the linkage. I've heard the same thing about failure in the shift rods. I'm hoping that isn't the problem.
  22. I had mine for eight years. No problem with transom. If you have any question about a boat the best thing would be to get a qualified surveyor check the boat out.
  23. Hi, When I bought mine I received all the paper work from the owner. It included the build sheet which listed everything. As I understand it the Hydrasport Vector and Stratos salt water boats were very similar. If you looked at the two boats side by side they looked identical. The Hydrasport 2250 and Stratos 2250 were essentially the same boat. When I bought mine it had a 200HP Evinrude. I had a great deal of trouble with the engine and repowered with a Honda 200HP 4 stroke. The only thing I added thereafter was trim tabs. I never had any problem with my transom. Even with the added weight of the Honda I never had any problem. I loved the boat and would still have it except my wife and I decided to get something with a cabin. My mechanic told me that my boat fell in the years when quality was high. I would look carefully at anything pre 1994 as he said there were issues with fit and finish. I hope this helps.
