  1. Tim, I follow the migration from the western basin around Port Clinton then end up usually around Avon. The largest part of the walleye population is in the western basin now. There are fish in the Sandusky river and Maumee river as well as on the reef's spawning now. There is an estimated 40 million give or take population of walleye in lake Erie I have to upload some pictures from Sunday once I get them uploaded I'll post them back here. The water temps are 38 and the fish I will post were caught trolling cranks.
  2. I found out the same way as Chris did. I actually had problems getting on here for a couple of days with the DNS issues. Glad to see that they are fixied now
  3. Wiley, Can you put up a thread for either the Mid-West or Great Lakes fishermen?
  4. WOW nice Gator mouth. I haven't had specs in over 15 years. I am going to make a trip to south Louisiana in Dec this year and catch some fish to bring home. Can't wait to smell the saltwater again. Been way too long Hell I even miss the skeeters too
  5. Yeah I don't see many here in Iowa that big either that is why I go to Erie. If anyone wants to join me let me know and I'll be glad to take you out on Erie when I'm there. Great lake and the best walleye trip of your life
  6. Those limits are a typical trip to Lake Erie. Those larger fish were from several different trips. I usually go to Erie about 6 times a year. Wish it was closer than 10 hours though
  7. Here are a couple of my Lowe FM 185 I will try and get some on the water pictures this spring
  8. Most filter software also edits out saltwater and woodcock. The words I put to test are salt water and woodco ck just as a test. Funny how totally ok words get edited. I guess red neck is ethnic Well guess they are ok
  9. Wiley, Can you ad a Mid-west or Great Lakes regional forum? I have some Great reports and pictures on Walleye fishing on Lake Erie
  10. Have you pulled the prop yet? Could be some of that rope behind the prop. If there is none bring the prop to a prop shop to check the balance of it or you might have slipped the hub and need a new hub replacement, I keep a spare prop and hub kit on my boat and my spare hub kit does make my Verado vibrate I had hit some stumps with my old aluminum so this is likely the problem. I doubt that you have bent a shaft or even a SS prop blade on some rope. But hey strange things do happen.
  11. Hello LaGringa/Gringo I found your blog a few weeks ago and read it all. Love the pictures and the narative that goes with it. Hopefully one of these day's you will write a book about your adventures. Dooley the Demented is fantastic, give him a scratch behind the ear for me. I would like to plan a trip one of these days to the TCI and it is all because of your blog. My girlfriend and I have discussed it and it will be in our future thanks for sharing your lives with us we really enjoy all that you have shared. Good luck on the bone fishing guide/resort thing I'm sure you will do well. Anyway I just wanted to say HI and that all your blog work and pictures are appreciated. It is kind of like we are going thru what is happening as you are. I have lived through several hurricanes having grown up in New Orleans and have some idea of what you guy's went thru. Not as bad where I was compared to you guy's being right on the water I'm sure. Thanks again and keep up the blog
  12. Wiley I have heard lots about you from some of the guy's on THT that are here now I'm glad to be here as well. I have also read the 2gringos blog and love it. My girlfriend and I are now considering a vacation to TCI that place looks like Paradise. LaGringa/Gringo keep up the great blog and pictures they are enjoyed by many. Give my little Demented friend a scratch behind the ears Dooley is quite a character. Also good luck on getting that Bone fishing Resort going that sounds like a great idea. Good luck to you guy's for living a fantastic Dream in Paradise. Oh and back on track I'm part of the Mercury conspiracy
  13. I bought this neat little wedge for my Verado and it is great. Absorbs shock very well, simple to use, and is small and easy to store.
  14. Yeah Bob you too. I answered you on the prop thread but I'll tell you here as well. I run a 19" Tempest for my boat it is the best I have run on it. You might try a 19 and see what your WOT is. Your boat is 3 feet longer than mine and I don't know about weight. Just make sure you get around 6200 or so the range on Verado is 5800-6400. I'm sure you will love the Verado I know that I do
  15. Bob, I run a 19" Tempest and am getting 6200 WOT my speed is mid 50's with just me and 48 full load 3 people for fishing. I can usually stay on plane as low as 17mph or so depends on the load but usually less than 20 mph. I get much better performance out of this Tempest than anything else I have tried. It is great on big water like Lake Erie. I have run a 21" but the RPM's were too low it was just under 5800 however the Top End was about 58, holeshot suffered terribly so I opted for the overall best for my setup and that was the 19" Tempest.
  16. Hey Bob, Yeah thats usually true but I have seen at Napa, O'Reilys, and a few other auto parts stores have huge sales on NGK plugs. I only used Champion plugs a few times and didn't take me long to figure out that NGK was far superior but at the same time I did find some very good sales at Auto parts stores compared to the Marine dealers. When you do find them online sometimes the shipping eats up what you would save as well.
  17. I would use my Dremel tool or some kind of abraisive wheel. Don't dig deep just polish up the blades and you should be good to go.
  18. I'm not sure the OP will get the same performance that you will since you have a Verado and it is supercharged and his isn't. I would look at the max RPM's that you have compared to your old prop and see how far off of the max rpms' you are. For every 2" of pitch you will gain 200 rpms give or take going down in pitch. For going up you will loose 200 rpms. This is just a rule of thumb. Not sure if I can recomend a URL here or not yet. Let me know if I can then I'll recomend a prop shop that lets you test props to get the right one for your boat. Hope this helps.
  19. I agree. I don't think there are many LU's that can handle much more than the 350 hp that is available. This is why there have been issures on the LU's. That said once a LU is designed that can handle all of those ponnies then we will see outboards up to and maybe even more than say 500hp. I have a baby Verado and love it the best outboard I have ever run.
  20. Or check your local auto parts store. Sometimes you can get the plugs for marine engines for way less than the marine dealers.
