  1. Move South? I'd love to but I don't think I will ever be in a position to retire. I think the states above me ( VT/ NH/ ME) still have easier gun regs. I don't know if what I have will cover me up there? As for the gun regs, some of the stuff is a good idea. Or I can understand the benifit of some of the regs anyway since I was almost a victom myself of being shot at 5 years old by a 6 year old. Keeping guns away from people who don't have a clue reguardless of their age is a good idea. BM, I lived, slept ,ate ,walked and talked guns. Now 30 somethin years later without guns I can admit I'm a little uncomfortable around them and really need to ask questions from those who are familar with them. I'm sure it will take months for me to decide what the heck I'm going to get if anything. I mean I been without one for this long??? I'm thinking joining the rod and gun around the corner is my best next step.
  2. "Local police departments have the authority to issue gun permits. Such permits include licenses to carry (L.T.C.) and firearm identification cards (F.I.D.). There are two types of licenses to carry. A Class A license to carry allows an individual to purchase, possess and carry large-capacity handguns, rifles, shotguns and feeding devices. A Class A license to carry is the only permit that authorizes a holder to carry a concealed and loaded firearm. A Class B license to carry permits a holder to purchase, possess, and carry non-large capacity handguns and large-capacity rifles and shotguns. There are also two types of firearm identification cards. Unrestricted firearm identification cards allow for the possession of non-large capacity rifles and shotguns. The restricted version of the card is available solely for the possession of chemical sprays. Massachusetts gun laws require that all firearms, rifles, and shotguns be stored in a secured, locked container or equipped with a tamper resistant mechanical lock or other safety devices properly engaged as to render the weapon inoperable by unlawful users. Moreover, every firearm and large capacity weapon sold in the Commonwealth must be equipped with a safety device (trigger lock) designed to prevent its discharge by an unauthorized user. "
  3. These are the different permit classes from online. I believe class B you can carry a pistol or revolver but it needs to be in a lock box at all times. I think it can only be used for target. I'll see if I can find my book to be sure. Firearms Identification Card - Restricted (mace and pepper spray) Firearms Identification Card Class B License to Carry - Non-Large Capacity Class A License to Carry - Large Capacity License to Possess a Machine Gun Check if a Class A Gun Club License *NOTE: Only the Colonel of the State Police can issue a club license. I think this is the reason I didn't maintain my FID way back when I had one. I didn't want to go check the regulations every time I though about pulling out a gun.
  4. I'll have to do some research on that question but I believe it is for all lawfull purposes. It would include for protection of life and property. The permit reads: Commonwealthg of Massachusetts ____________________________________ Class A Large capacity license to carry firearms(M.G>L>c 140.&131) restrictions: none I'll probably just get a shotgun and go hunting up by you at Lake Winni even though I almost hit a deer here on the next street over this morning up . I have a buddy there in Alton Bay.
  5. http://www.magnumresearch.com/Expand.asp?ProductCode=DE50 Check this thing out. I'll have to wait till next year to save up for it.. and a gun safe.
  6. I thought it was the dual purpose and the 410 ga that caught my attention. What the heck is a 50 cal? Do they make a handgunlike that?
  7. Not sure anymore? I saw the Taurus Judge and thought I wanted it. Then I found out Taurus doesn't submit for Ma compliance. Then it became a matter of principle of getting the permit since I started last winter. I didn't get a FID. I got a class a large capacity. Its been so long I better go take classes again. I think I can do anything lawful in Ma with that other that automatic. I always wanted a 410 and a 16 gauge for hunting but I stopped hunting 30 something years ago.I probably can't walk the 10 miles a day like I use to.
  8. What gun do ya think I should buy? the 410 pistol that started my whole trek last winter is illegal in Ma...
  9. Well I got out today and the results of the storm reminds me a great deal of the perfect storm. The top of the channal marker blew over at the end of the channal. I don't think that has ever happened, not even in the blizzard of 78. Part of the sea wall at the harbor is being undermind from the land side. Can't say I ever saw that either.
  10. Barack Obama Mine is one of the local Viet Nam Vets who was WIA. That guys really tries to make the best of life no matter what was throw at him. I'm sure there are plenty Vets just like him but I know this one.
  11. For the time duration. This was the worst I've ever seen. Worse than the Perfect storm and worse than the blizzard of 78. We woulda been up shits creek if this storm lasted any amount of time. It went through more like a hurricane.... Blizzicane comes to mind.
  12. hope it works for ya. I have a son whoes back is junk(so he says) and has let pills solve his pain. The pills ruined everything else though. I don't think there is much room to get any lower for him. The tough part is there is nothing that is available for someone like that.
  13. I'm gettin to old to do to much anymore. so I went back to having a truck with a plow. 2 years ago I shoveled my whole driveway though. 300 ft of 12" snow and maybe 10 feet of 2 1/2 plowpack at the street. I probably shouldn't have but I did
  14. I'm starting to get wind blown snow here now. I don't think I've ever had 4 ft drifts.
  15. I thought the whole process was supposed to take 6 weeks. Looks like another 2 months went by since I went down the PD
  16. We got another 1" of snush. Plenty of high wind. More wind than I can remember!
  17. Just shoveled a path to the back door. We have a heavy wet 2 1/2 to 3 inches
  18. Well good luck tomorrow. Snow dosen't bother me so it usally leaves me open to give someone a hand
  19. The weather channel is giving a prediction of 12 " to 24" for Boston area. Jim Cantori broke the news a little earlier. The guys making money plowing will like that!
  20. They probably only earn minimum wages and most don't graduate past 6th grade ? What do you expect?
  21. The way these days been going, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush anyday.
  22. Gezzzz, I'd be out of business if I depended on them. I wonder what would happen to a doctor if their success rate was the same as the weather forcasters?
