  1. THANKS!!!! I know that there's going to be a survey on the property before the sale, but I do not know if that will catch up the additions....

It seems that I will be liable for whatever modif that this guy made... no matter how many papers he sign saying that he did not modify or add anything....so it may not be worth....

    Thanks everybody...

  2. I'm in the process of looking a home to buy, and I have a question that have not been able to get answered.

Let suppose I'm buying a home, and the actual owner is a very handy man and he likes to build stuff around an in the house.

Mr. owner is a cheap ###### that hates to get permits to build his things, so he doesn't get any permits.

So I decide to buy his home, but really do not know what was originally built with the home, and what was added later. Since I do not know this I have no way to know if he pulled permits for what ever he built.

I found out that Title insurance company looks for "open permits"only.

I the case that I buy the home, how much liability and risk am I taking???

There's a seller property disclosure statement, where he sign that he did not added, replaced or modified nothing on the property... Am I in the clear????

If the city, county or state, shows up 6 month after I bought the house telling me that something was built without pulling permits or approval, am I still on the hook, or they will go against the original owner???

    Thanks, for your thoughts....

  3. I have a Sunstream floating lift but it works completely different than yours. It does collect barnacles and I need to call a diver out to scrape 'em all off, but it works really well and is really stable. I have a neighbor with the one that fills up with water and he has problems all the time. Permitting wouldn't allow us a lift because of width into the canal and our floating lift is even wider, but legal. Idiots that run the City of Fort Lauderdale. The floating lift costs 2x as much but is faster and actually solar powered not that I really care. It picks up a 13,000 lb. boat and it is just about maxed out.

Cant believe the crap that cites can come up with... the good thing is that most of the time theres a way around with them.... I went around the neighborhood, talking to the people to see what they think about the are, and one of the guys had a big walk around just in his front yard. He was telling me how the city would bust his balls about the boat/trailer, for being on the dirt and not being on a solid surface.... he put one 24X24 concrete tiles under each wheel and problem solved!!!!!! try that on a HOA!!!

Thanks everybody for the info... I'm still negotiating the lift, but I think that it will be a good option until my cash flow gets a little bit more relaxed and I can get a good 4 pile lift... I do not think that permits would be an issue since other neighbors have their 4 pile lifts...

BTW, the brand of this lift is Hydrodock International...

  4. Autotether has listened to ReelBoating members specific recommendations made in this product review forum and because of your input we are discontinuing the belt clip and are in the process of redesigning a better one. Thank you for the comments.

Also, if anyone is having trouble with installation or any other issues, please call us at 888-593-4181 and we would be happy to help you.

    - Andrea, Sales & Marketing at Autotether

How you dare to do that!!!!! who do you think you are to go around listening to users suggestions and making modifications to make your product better......?!?!??

    JUST KIDDING!!!! :1143_neener_neener_neener::605_thumbs_up:

Is nice to see that somebody is listening... please let us know of the new improved clip, so we can order one....

  5. Those lifts are a nice option when cash is tight. But they are not pretty. But if this is for the house we were talking about you can put it on the side out of sight.

The city won't require a permit because its not a permenant structure. Its no different than floating another boat behind your house.

Same house... I went there to see it yestarday, and its awesome.... putting an offer today.

Will try to include the lift on the sale.

    Thanks everybody for your comments...

  6. Same here.

Now make us some damn LED DOT approved trailer lights that actually last, no one else seems to be able to do it.

I've been telling him the same thing since my trailer lights left me hangin!!!!!

Glad for Chris, nice to see honest, hardworking people succeed!!!!

Hopefully he will be able to get rid of that POS boat he has!!!!LOLOLOL :1143_neener_neener_neener::1143_neener_neener_neener:

  7. First call the city building dept. to make sure there is no moritorium on dock / lift building at the sight. If so then the float lift is priceless. If no moritorium then wait for a proper High Tide or General lift and do it right.

Besides, those things are friggen fugly!

I KNOW!!!! very UGLY... but I'm putting all my chips on my biz and on the home right now...

    What is that moratorium????

How much are those High Tide or General lift around???

I want to do it right, eventually, but I was thinking to get away with that float lift until I can afford the good ones....

Other than ugly, Are the floating ones bad??? I assume they are slow...

    Thanks!!!

PS: The head project on the boat is coming along awesome!!! you should see it, I'll send you some pictures next weekend.

  8. I had thought about a do-it-your-self job, but the above switch plate was only $23 and has a power lite that is lit when the power is on...a light that shows when the pump is running and one more light if you have a high water alarm...just incase your hearing is as bad mine is and do't happen to hear it.

My boat had a prefect place to mount another float switch. When they built the boat the made to raised (almost a foot higher than the bilge pnmp switch) flat areas for mounting pumps.

Could you share with us where you got that switch pannel???

  9. I'm about to put an offer on a home with a boat lift.... I know nothing about these things, but it looks like the kind that has big white floating pontoons on the side that got filled with water to lower it and got empty to raise it...

Neighbors around the area tell me that the main issue leaving the boat in the water on that place is not only growth but the electricity from shore power on other docks eating the sinks and metals like crazy.

I have some questions and I was looking for you opinions...

Is the type of floating lift mentioned above, a good option??? are they known for having a lot of issues??? Any issues???

    Advantages?? Disadvantages???

Does it need city permits to be used? (I do not think so because they are not fixed, but you never know)

Are they better than fixed lifts??? Or worse???

The owner claims that the lift can take up to 20.000 pounds and the motor in it is new. My boat is at the most 8.000-9.000 pounds.

He is asking for $2.500.for the lift.

    Is that a good deal???

Or is it better to hold on for some time and save some money for a fixed Lift, permits for it, and all that crap????

    Thanks in advance

  10. I have a Mustang "Lil Legends" very much like the one pictured above. It was hands down, bar none, the best of the bunch. I believe there was one other one that was perhaps a little better, but it was like twice asa expensive (therefore, not in the "bunch"). Think I paid something like $50-60... Still using it after 3 years and will use it for at least another 4-5 with our little boy. Might need to purchase another one if my kids are in the same "class" and size - I will purchase the identical one without hesitation.

My opinion, spend a little extra for one that is not only comfortable, but is rated highly and well made. That is one thing you will notice, the Mustang is well made, has mesh (breathable) inside areas and the flotation is one thick piece - not stacks of pieces that tend to wad up and move around. I also don't have a lick of mildew on it either and that says a lot about the materials - I have cheaper adult PFD's purchased the same time that look 10 years older...

USCG Type II - Infant/Child (up to 90 lbs)

USCG Type III - Youth (w/no collar 50-90 lbs)

Read the reveiws at WM - <Lil Legends Link>

I agree with you... what I'm finding ODD is that the only Youth PFDs around are all type 3!!!!

I was planing to buy a Youth size (50LB to 90LB i think) for my niece, store it, and pass it to my daughter when she gets to that weight but, even the LIL legends are type 3!!!

I think that the only type 2 for that age are the regular orange ones, and you know how uncomfortable those are to get a child to ware them all the time :471_confused_face::504_shrugging: ....

  11. I'm graduating on June 18th. :1992_beer_cheer::1992_beer_cheer:

Not really proud of that due to other circumstances. I'm happy because it makes my mom happy. It was a debt that I had with my parents.

The funny thing is that I will leave to Bimini on June 17th!!! :2261_high::2261_high: LOL so my mom will have to wait until September for the ceremony

  12. If I recall correctly, the Bennet tabs have a very simple hinge that is really just a bent flange. If you take oneoff and take it to a decetn industrial sheet metal shop, they should be able to duplicate them while making them longer and wider. I had a set made like that once and had them turn a one inch flange down on each side that helped containthe water and kept the spray down a little while making the tabs stiffer. Type 316 is the best stainless to use, buit 302/304 is OK as well. Be sure to have the passivated or electropolished before you install them or they will rust, even if made out of stainless.

K-planes work well, but I even made a set of them bigger!

KERNO!!!!! I HATE YOU!!!! , but in a very nice way :2261_high::2403_worshipper:

    Those tabs look awesome!!!!!!! :1992_beer_cheer:

  13. If the 26 is anything similar to the 302/sport I can tell you that my 1981 has an aluminum tank, I think that Chris 1994 also has aluminum so you should not have problems with E10. (assuming that wellcraft used the same 150 gal tank for all those Scarabs).

I will recomend to check/change the hoses thoug to alcohol resistant.

If you are going to re-power I would defenitly go with something bigger like a 250

  14. I'd try Boaters World. We were just at the local one here (going out of business) and they had them 30% off.

p.s. That's all we have for our grandkids is Mustang Lil' Legends.

BOB, where are you located... I called 3 BW, POMPANO, FT LAUDERDALE and MIAMI...

The first 2 are out of stock and the one on Miami, the guy was really nasty, and told me that he didn't had time to check for availability or to see if they have them in stock....

  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My sister will be visiting on May and we are going to Bimini with nieces and nephew, so I need PFD for the crossing and when in the boat.

Looking for 2 Child PFDs... had really good experience with Mustangs Lil Legends, so I was looking for the same...

Anybody know where to get a good price on them???

Cabelas had them dirt cheap, when I bougth one for my daugther, but they do not have them any more....

  16. Guys, I need some direction....On how to get a CPA license here in FL when you came from another country...

Great chance that my sister could migrate here, from Argentina.

She is a CPA there, and specialize on Audits on the Santander Bank.

I got her degree and transcript evaluated for a company here in the USA (WES), and they said that she has the equivalent to a Bachelor and Master degree.... :504_shrugging:

I know she has to pass some type of exam or test, but thats all..

Anybody here that could help or guide me????

    Thanks!!!!

  17. I must have missed the part in the manual about a pressurised supply, because my Jabsco head works great sucking right off the fresh water system. As Chris suggested, run a 1 inch hose from the output of the jabsco pump to your waste tank. The waste tank needs to be at least 8 gallons to be safe. If you can see it to check the level, great. If not, the Snake River capacitive system works well for monitoring the level. I have a tee in the outlet of my holding tank. One hose goes to the vacuum clean out port and the other goes to a Whale Gulper macerating pump. When I am where I can legally dump, I open the seacock, turn on the pump and drain the tank. Unless you know the overboard macerating pump is there, the system appears to be only emptied by pump out, since there is no Y valve. I use fresh water because sea water makes holding tanks stink like crazy. A charcoal filter on the vent line will help if the smell does become a problem.

Hey Kern!!!! thanks for chiming in too!!!

It's on my toilet manual, on the link that BOZ posted on the second post on this thread, first page under instalation,

    http://www.ittjabsco.com/files/37045_qf_toilet.pdf

I called Jabsco and they confirmed so I'm thinking to connect the intake of the toilet to a T or Y between my freshwater pump and the shower.

I have to buy a 1" macerator pump to drain the tank to the ocean, the Y valve and the vent filter....

Do you guys have any advice on brands or types for these things???

  18. You don't need to supply water to the head with a pump. There is a "water in" port on the head, this will suck water from where ever you supply it from. The pump on the head will pull the water from either your fresh water tank or the seawater.

I'll give you a call tomorrow and explain it better for you.

Thanks!!! I know... I'm slow..... what is throwing me away is the note on the manual calling for a presurised water system that can provide 3 1/2 gals per minute....
