  1. That is a standup rod used to catch the elusive split-tail blowfish.
  2. As you can see by the responses, there is a wide range of taste in music on boats. So if you want to be "kind to the sandbar" as mentioned above, try and be considerate of others and keep your volume to respectable levels. This seems to be a real problem with the wakeboard boats at the lake. You can hear whatever crap they are listening to go "thump, thump, thump" across the cove. I doubt it sounds like much even sitting in the boat. And why does the wakeboarder have to listen in while they are boarding? Give it a break. And no matter how loud I turn my Buffett up, I can't seem to get that "thump, thump, thump" going. Thanks for letting me vent.
  3. My boat is in the shop for repairs caused by bad fuel right now. I had run over 400 hours without any issues except scheduled maintenance. It sucks. I was looking for ways around the problem and was wondering about AVGAS. I'm sure it is more expensive but does it have ethanol in it? Would it be possible to trailer the boat over to the local FBO and fill up?
  4. Patrick - Yep, "Every Dawg has it's Day"... My kid goes to Clemson so he is partial to "Carolina". The UGA Alumni Assoction sent out an invitation for special seating and stuff for Corey's concert this summer at Chastain. Using it as a fund raiser.
  5. My 20 year old kid turned me on to Corey Smith. He has some great stuff that I have come to like. Listen to "If I could do it again". I guess it was his way of repaying me turning him into a Parrothead. My list is Buffett, some Marley, CSN, Van Morrison, etc. A couple of "sleepers" - Vahevala by Loggins and Messina, Beer in Mexico by Kenny Chesney, Soak up the Sun by Sheryl Crow, or Love Shack by the B-52's
  6. Try G&G Marine in Fort Lauderdale. They maybe able to ship them for you.
  7. If it is not the cable you may have an issue with your shift linkage. I had a similiar problem with a '88 Yamaha. Understand it is fairly common for the rod linking the upper housing to the gear case to rust out in that vintage Yamaha.
  8. Now if you just had another one just like it we could figure out how to race them. After all, that's what guys do.
  9. I am lucky. I never reached the point where the problem escalated much over a warning. Had one carseat issue that was resolved by stopping the car and a quick spank. But without knowing what this lady had tried before, I really couldn't judge what she did. You would hope that if she is an attorney she is reasonably intelligent and tried other approaches first. It would be interesting to see if the girls ever fight in the car again. My neice has two boys that were 5 and 3 at the time. The oldest is very proper and well behaved. The younger one is a rascal. One day the younger one would not keep his car seat buckled. My neice knew she would soon be passing the local police station so she warned him that if he did it again she would turn him over to the police. Sure enough he did so she pulled into the station. The older one pleaded for her not to send his brother to jail while the younger one started getting nervous. She went inside and explained the situation to an officer and asked him to follow her to the car and talk to the boys. As the officer opened the door the older one points to his little brother and says "it was him!". Lesson learned. Buckle your belt and watch out for your brother.
  10. Mike, with that schedule I might look for a secure place to store your boat down there for a couple of weeks between trips. Unless you need it up here no sense in pulling it back. I bet you enjoy your mate time more than any other. Sounds like a great time for you and your kids. If you are the mate and they are the captain, do they get to run the boat too? Either way they will be the cool kids at school after this weekend. Doubt I will be at the lake this weekend (25th) because of the boat issue. My son finishes classes next week so then I can get him to run (idle) the boat over to the ramp so I can get it to service. Might be a good opportunity to bank some points by doing "honey-do" stuff.
  11. Or just going to blow myself and my boat up? OK, so here's my thought. My boat is suffering from the dreaded clogged VST filter which I have to get fixed. So I have been thinking about my fuel and grunge in the tank. I was wondering about a way to filter the fuel and get what I can cleaned out. What if I connected a line to the outlet on my fuel filter (Yamaha 10 micron) to a universal fuel pump that I already have and then a hose back into the fuel filler. In concept the fuel would recirculate through the filter and back into the tank just like water in an aquarium (where I got the idea). I could let it run for awhile and then change filters. Isn't this basically what fuel polishers do?
  12. Saw this system on ShipshapeTV (I know, a 30 minute infomercial) that looked pretty neat from Burnewiin. Like to know what you think. There is a link to a video from the show. http://www.oceanequipment.com/Exclusive-Di...ow/default.aspx
  13. Missed it last night. Anybody know if it will be replayed? How 'bout a quick update of what happened?
  14. This is really great after all these years. Hopefully the sinking goes well. Should be a good show when she goes down. I hope Inlet Cam has a really long zoom and can get an image of her as she passes South Florida. Looks like it is projected to be off Miami on Sunday. Hopefully Monday when I check the photo forum one of South Florida guys will have some pictures.
  15. Mike, I want your schedule! Are you taking your boat to all the locations? If so looks like you will get a bit of windshield time. Bob
  16. Ever feel like you are talking to yourself??? Hope this doesn't become my own personal thread... Planning on heading up to the lake tomorrow afternoon for the weekend. Probably head back sometime Sunday midday. Stop by if you are up. Weather looks good. 70 boat ramps open. Lake up 11 feet since December.
  17. Garrett, you need to find a better real estate agent. I would say 20% of the Agents do 80% of the business and they are good. The best agent will help a buyer or seller know what a house is worth and then work to get a transaction done between knowledgeable buyer and seller. As is the case in a quick transaction, the agents did a good job helping both sides establish values. And no, I am not a real estate agent but my wife is. But I did spend 23 years in commercial RE most of which was dealing with brokers. Good ones are worth every penny.
  18. How did it work out for them? Sure would save space on coolers. Just set your beer on the floor.
  19. Looks like the lake is up a foot to 1062.5 over the last week. And that does not count rain the last 2 days. Bet it is 1063 by this weekend! Storms yesterday tore up alot of docks yesterday especially at Port Royale Marina. Several in our cove were broken loose or damaged but I was told ours survived without incident. Down the cove from us is a dock with a big Lazy Days houseboat tied up. It had come loose and drifted down the cove. If they do not secure it before the wind changes, it could do some damage on the way out.
  20. Not something any of us will likely catch, but this fish is strange. Check out the pictures and the video. Fish seems to have legs and kind of bounces across the bottom. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...irdfish28m.html I watched a couple of minutes of the 19 minute video but saw enough. Pretty odd.
  21. Anybody headed up to the Lake during the Easter weekend? The lake level is sure looking better. Got our dock reattached to the landing. Now just have to get the power reworked. I maybe up Saturday during the day. Bob
  22. Can we assume the fish had a hook it it if he reeled it back in? What about a couple of ounces of lead? Could have been really ugly if it did.
  23. Sure would like to see this feature to include other "boating dates" as well. It would be nice to have a central listing of Boat Shows, get togethers, etc.
  24. At Sebring 30+ years ago I saw a member of of a motorcycle group/gang go in the crapper. His "buds" proceeded to wrap a rope around the unit to keep him from opening the door. They then pushed it over and rolled it around. Nasty. While working construction one summer on a high rise, some guy went into the crapper on about the 6th floor that was hooked up to the crane to be picked up for servicing. It was lifted, and swinging with the guy in it. He opened the door while "in flight" and went nuts. They took him away in an ambulance because he fainted. Just scared the crap out of him I guess...
