  1. Chris, Congratulations to you and his beautiful mother. May all 3 of you be blessed. Bob C
  2. Plumber, Welcome aboard! My best man in my wedding (and my co-worker) lived in Winter Springs when 434 was a 2 lane road! My wife's ex-inlaws bought their home in Bear Creek Estates for $35,000! Off of Redbug. Have you tried the Gulf Coast for Grouper, Snook, and Reds?
  3. Welder, I know this is "off topic", but what system do you like better, Bennetts or Lencos? And BTW, I read Tom (Tabman) left Bennett. Anyone know where he went?
  4. We (Proline) used to use QLs on the 23 Sport/Express/DC/Pilot series, but we switched over to Lencos because of repeated failures in all aspects of the system. They are also EXTREMELY sensitive and when you take your finger off the button, the tab doesn't stop at that very moment. Lenco and us, along with Carolina Skiff, developed this tab, the Limited Space Trim Tab, which we now use exclusively on the same series of boats. They work great. I've used and installed Bennetts, I've used and installed Lencos, I've used and installed QLs. I'll take Lencos every time. BTW, I see Welder and I have differences. I have heard they work better on bigger boats, where slight movements of the tab aren't felt as much...but I'll still take Lencos. :605_thumbs_up:
  5. Well, since it doesn't seem a crime here to be banned from THT, I got banned (IP) for trying to help Alex out with his Hewes project. And they would chase me down!!! I think it was instigated by some of the more "nasty" sort in "the bilge"...or maybe even JAWZ... Not sure, but I could get about 8 hours usage out of a new screen before I was busted. Have I learned my lesson? Maybe. A forum is supposed to be an open discussion about all sides of a problem, an issue, whatever. Political or philosophical differences will exist and should be taken into consideration. Decorum and diplomacy should be used. Name calling and ridicule have no place, as that would be childish behavior, which I hope we abandoned as children. OK, had my say. Yeah, I was banned...and I don't lose any sleep over it!
  6. Whoa, a Deutsch crimper. You are committed now, my friend. BTW, can I borrow it sometime if I can't get the one at work?
  7. Wiley, My guess is if anyone is still open, it's Rybo.
  8. '98 Aquasport 250 Osprey, twin 150 Fichts, tandem Load-Rite, 4 years. No issues, and OMC/BRP is the only manufacturer to recommend using their "trailer supports" for trailering. The rest state in the owners manuals that those supports (or "locks") are only to be used to facillitate working on the engine. BTW, I just tilted up and went...
  9. Particularly love the hunk of (I'm assuming it was resin encapsulated) ply that the livewell intake is attached to...not to mention the apparently treated and encapsulated ply coring of the console... Enjoy, King, enjoy...
  10. So, a simple yet costly answer to this question is to affix a motor to a transom of any particular boat and either simulate or actually road test it for, oh, I don't know, a million miles or so, with periodic and prolonged dunkings in salt and fresh water, along with offshore high speed running (to simulate real world conditions), same test performed with O/Bs of various weights and HPs, on many different boats... So where do I apply for this job? Good solid transom =no worries
  11. Well, you can see my allegiances here. prolineowners.com and classicaquasport.com. Alex's dockchat.com also. He's a good kid.
  12. 5'10" Redhead named Renee. She drove a school bus for Orange County. Married to a traveling salesman. I was 26, she was 36. :605_thumbs_up:
  13. Doug, What t/hulls do you have in her presently? And are you talking above the waterline, or ALL?
  14. I'm a firm believer in bronze, but have you given some thought to these? Southco Stalon T/hulls Looks of SS at a fraction of the cost. We use them, and have ZERO complaints.
  15. F550 ought to do it...some "helper" springs, to deal with the tongue weight...JMHO
  16. Striper, Believe it or not, I built a few 165 Stripers, as well as her twin, the Wellcraft 160CCF, back in the mid 90s. Get the wrong deck mold with the wrong hull mold...4 hours later, the boat was decked... I knew guys that towed 165s with the old Toyota PUs with the R24 motor. She's a light boat, any smaller SUV/PU will do just fine...
  17. Dave, I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time I could buy something cheaper locally than online...
  18. Dave, what prop are you running, what's your WOT speed and RPM, and how low can you go RPM-wise and stay on plane? Bob C
  19. Dave, Great to see you here! Question. What prop are you running? THX, got an issue with another boat, 21 Proline, 150 Vrod.
  20. I think 2 things. Well actually, 3. 1) Boaters know the real deal when the s*** hits the fan. 2) Some people are a little tired of the "status quo". 3) I think I'll have another beer... That was 3, wasn't it?
