Armstrong of Altamonte Springs. Armstrong, 63, told police he was asleep aboard the Princess Lauren, a 71-foot motor yacht, about 7 a.m. when he was awakened by a loud noise that came from inside a closet, according to a police report. He said when he opened the closet, it was filled with smoke. He ran to the boat's front cabin and awakened Robert Martino, 58. The two left the vessel and called for help, police said. Daytona Beach firefighters battled the blaze at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club for hours. They were assisted by the Marine Patrol and U.S. Coast Guard. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Daytona Beach Fire Department said today. The yacht, built in 1998, was valued at $3 million to $3.5 million. It was undergoing a two-year upgrade, firefighters said. Armstrong owns Maitland-based Parc Studios, which has a client list that includes the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Britney Spears, LFO, Mariah Carey, Linda Eder and Coolio. He also owns Pat Armstrong & Associates, Inc., an artist management company, and Mister Sunshine Music, Inc., an international music publishing company. He is credited with discovering and managing artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and Quiet Riot and he has managed artists such as Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits, Pat Travers, Bertie Higgins and Steven Seagal according to a biography on his company's website. He also managed five-time World Boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho. In 2002, Armstrong and Larry R. Stessel formed Titan Entertainment Group, and the two men own Parc Records, Inc., an independent music label based in Orlando. According to his biography, Armstrong has acted as a financial manager and consultant to a number of businesses both in and outside of the entertainment industry, and is actively involved in a number of other business ventures, including commercial real estate holding and development. Armstrong has served on the board of advisors of Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts, radio station WUCF at the University of Central Florida and Colonial Bank. He is an investor and organizing director of Southern Community Bank. He is a voting member of the National Association of the Recording Arts and Sciences, which presents the Grammy Awards, and the Country Music Association. He received a law degree in 1974 from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

The next day on local TV, the accomplice, Bryant and her father were protesting how the police and media portrayed her and that she shoudn't have been arrested. She basically claimed that she "didn't do nuffin" and of course her father used standard excuse #1 - - "She's a good girl...everybody loves her...she's never been in trouble...yada yada yada." As the original post stated: "...that was adrift in the Gulf of Mexico near Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula." That area would be outside of the USCG's area of responsibility and jurisdiction. In that area, the device likely doesn't belong to the United States taxpayers. I'm quite sure that the USCG would have passed the information and last known location on to the proper authorities in Mexico. From there, it's up to them to resolve the problem.

Depends on what type of material, how big it is, how heavy it is, whether it's water-soaked or otherwise damaged, did it come completely off, etc., etc., etc. Contact cement will usually hold almost anything, assuming it's used according to the directions. If the original soundproofing is still in reasonably good condition, you should be able to just clean up the two surfaces and re-glue it in place. If contact cement doesn't seem viable, you might want to use something like Liquid Nail or a similar adhesive. To really ensure a good bond, consider removing the entire hatch, lay it down face-down, re-gluing the material, then put some weight on it at least overnight to get a firm bond between the hatch and the material. If the original soundproofing is in bad shape or waterlogged, it's toast. Start over with new material. Good luck.

Our resident photographer, Ludicrous, is currently working aboard the MV Laney Chouest and is believed to be working with the USCG on this situation. His company owns the large orange vessels with the huge open aft decks seen in many of the photos from the scene. He's due back in port this Wednesday. Keep him and his crewmates in your thoughts, too.

Check that boat over carefully. It looks identical to one I saw over here in Saint Cloud a few months ago, and I couldn't help myself... I was drooling all over the poor thing. Beautiful boat! Hope you get tons of enjoyment out of it.

Not enough rod holders.

I had one fail, and when I took it apart I found that the magnet attached to the impeller had fractured and tiny pieces had jammed it. Replaced just the impeller (after thoroughly cleaning the cavity it sits in) and I was back in business.

Chris, I use a 1TB Western Digital "My Book" external hard drive on my big desktop PC, and a small 500GB Western Digital for my laptop. The 1TB is about the size of a hardback book, cost about $179 @ Costco, and the 500GB ($79) is about the size of an iPod. Both connect via USB. They are easily portable, easy to operate, and quick to connect/disconnect. I've got both PCs set to automatically back up the entire hard drives once a week. The little one saved my hindquarters (not to mention about ten years worth of pictures) when I had to completely reload the laptop's software and all my data after it got screwed up by a not-so-nice virus.
