  1. Rich, agreed about the cam action pulling tighter. Reason why I went with the IPS was the location of the seal, it's on the top of the mounting flange and seals right at the deck and over the mounting screws rather than sealing against the lower lip of the hatch lid. This would block water from collecting against the seal and possibly dripping through with no place else to drain. Would like to have gotten a Beckson as they have a double seal, one on top of the flange and one on the lower lip, didn't have the size I needed....

  2. IPS just bought out and merged the Jim Black line into theirs, which we have been using for years. Excellent, and well-engineered products.

Noticed the Jim Black line when I looked at the website earlier, very happy with the IPS hatch so far, didn't leak a drop when I blasted it with the hose from the side and also with all the rain we've had.

  3. Just replaced the hatch on my deck, used one from Innovative Product Solutions, hasn't leaked a single drop, and they have the exact size you need. When you install any hatch, make sure the mounting flange does not get distorted if the surface you are mounting to isn't flat, that will increase the potential for leaks.
