  1. I am pretty sure your set up would not work on my 88 Mako 211. I have a single 96 Yamaha 225 and want to add a kicker but I haven't been inpressed with the brackets I've seen. Who is the manufacturer of yours? I would like to see what they have, based on what you have said and your experience it is evident they have a good product. My direct e-mail is paulwhitaker@knology.net Thanks, Paul

  2. Hello all!

I have spent the last week or so cleaning my boat from top to bottom and have found some products that work exceptionally well! I thought I would give a quick run-down to help save others some time. It all started with an inquiry to have someone detail my boat.... I quickly found that I did not want to spend $3-400+ dollars to have my boat detailed. This wasn't a ridiculous price but I would just rather spend the money on gas and know I did it myself...

1.Waterline stains = a product called hull off/hull and bottom cleaner. The stuff is magic, orange stains wipe off with very little "elbow grease"

2.Dock rash= Acetone. I know this stuff is harsh, used very sparingly and removed all black stains from hull.

3.wax-polish= 3M Marine Restorer & Wax ( green label) for "Heavily Oxidized Fiberglass Finishes".

My hull/deck hadn't been waxed and buffed out in at least 2 years other than usual soap cleaning. WOW boat looks better than when I bought it.

    4. Bright work= WOODY WAX WOODY WAX WOODY WAX!!!!!!! WOW I cannot stress how easy this stuff is and how great it works! My T-BAG on my T-top had apparently created some pitting from negligence on my part to remove it occasionally and clean the stainless... You spray it on a cloth, wipe it on and come back and wipe it off, no scrubbing needed and the harder the stain= the longer you leave it on. It is even safe for non-skid decks and corrosion prevention. I do not know what is in the bottle but is is really impressive stuff. I even used it on a polished stainless sink in a bathroom at my house which had previously been avoided due to the pain it is to clean it. Now it is spotless and water stains are a non-event.

Disclaimer: I am in no way telling you to pour any of this stuff on your skin, sniff it, or add it to your favorite beverage and drink it. Some of the products I used were fairly strong and extreme care was taken in their application! Rubber gloves are not a bad idea. Please use you head when using these products.

Hope this helps narrow the search for what works!

P.S. I picked up most of these products from River Supply in Thunderbolt GA.

    PD

  3. Hey all.

I am going to merge some forum areas together. I feel use of the SEARCH feature replaces the need for so many different categorized forum areas.

With ReelBoating.tv debuting soon I want to focus on expanding ReelBoating beyond just a forum area. 8-10 forum areas should cover everything and keep the main forum active.

Forums like Marine Electronics and BoaTMZ will merge into the Boat Forum. Same with the photos etc.

If you object to this merging please express your concerns here. Hey, at least you'll be posting!

  4. Boat was stored with fuel stablizer. first time skipping and all clynders wern't firing, 4200 rpm @ wot. After running it hard for 30 to 45 minutes it cleared up and ran 5200 rpm @wot. Changed plugs and still had the skip at 2600 to 2900 rpm. a coupl of weeks went by and I added the fuel treatment and Read the plugs which showed no signs of a problem. This last week another new set of plugs and still have the skip at 2600 to 2900 rpm. Other wise seems to idole smooth. accelerates quickly and runs 5200 wot. If any of you guys have another idea lets hear it or I guess I'm going to be looking for a carburator man? Thanks for the help! The Fireproofer

  5. 1996 V-76 2 stroke saltwater,225Hp, 453 hours. On a 88 Mako 211 CC. engine seems to run fine except at 2600 to 2900 rpm. Idols fine to wot 5200rpm 44.5 mph. At this rpm range not all cylinders are firing. If throttled up slowly it only skips at this rpm range but otherwise no skip is evident? a few folks in the business that I've talked to just say rebuild the carbs "6 X's. I hate to spend the bucks but I don't want to blow the engine either. I had fuel stabilizer in the tank and I've tried a fuel additve but it hasn't helped. I've got a trip planned to Swansborrow, NC in 3 weeks and I've got to make a move pretty quick. any help or ideas will be appreciated. The Fireproofer

4/26-Well time is running out! I'm takin-er into the shop and hope the damage won't be to bad. I'll let you know what we find. the Fireproofer
