  1. Thanks for the advice, I am either going to cheaply (but correctly) fix the motor and sell it, or sell it for scrap. I wouldn't mind learning how to fix an outboard motor. I love fixing things (Except TV's which is what I do daily!!) David
  2. I am in need of a repair manual for an Evinrude E140TRLCNB motor. This motor is on my 1972 Boston Whaler, and I am trying to repair it, and sell it. The person I purchased the boat from said that it would run, but had a knock to it like a piston was messed up. Does anyone know where I can get a repair manual from? Where is a good place to purchase parts from? Does anyone know what tools are required to do a compression test? Or how to do a compression test on this model? What are "ideal" compression readings for this motor? Thanks in advance! David
  3. I visit 10-15 times a day.... Mainly while multitasking at work! I try to post what I can, when I can; and mainly learn! I love boating, and am trying to repair mine using the information found here. Also I love this place versus the other b/c there is not bitch$ng and complaining here.' I think Wiley is headed in the right direction, and once he gets the manufacturers in here things will be awesome!
  4. Yeah you could integrate that with the porn site that you run!!! J/K LOL David
  5. I think it would be a great idea to take information from a bunch of posts on a similar topic and put together in FAQs that could be researched . . . kind of like a wikopedia-of-boating-and-fishing I think it's a great idea! Wiley and I have discussed it in the past, and I think that it will eventually lean towards DIY videos, ect.... This was discussed prior to RB. What do you think Auguste? I think FAQ's & DIY video's would be a great help!!! David
  6. I think as a forum we should try to eliminate THaT competition, buy bringing more discussions here without all the bitch$ng and wining that goes on over there. I know THaT other site is more established (by our current owner) but RB can be the same way soon. It's a new site Wiley, and eventually RB will be the top dog! Lets keep this forum civilized, and focused. Maybe we could emphasize on projects, boating discussion, and maybe FAQ's pinned in certain area. I use to be real active in dslreports.com in the Satellite Internet forum. They had FAQ's specifically placed in a designated area that answered most frequent questions... Such as how to winterize my boat for the winter.... Instead of having a user search these options, have one layed out answer per inboard/outboard. What do you think? David
  7. I personally like reelboating better. Maybe you could purchase the other name, and just forward it to here. David
  8. It can be rebuilt but no insurance company would do it as it would cost waaaaayyy more than another similar or even much newer boat of the same brand and size. Sadly whats left of this boat will sit in a marina on blocks until the insurance company decides what to do with it. Most likely will be auctioned off for pennies and whoever buys it will pick through remains for anything salvageable. If there was no insurance the owner will have to dispose of it properly or pay to store it. I suppose it can be gutted and someone can turn it into a big center console and slap 3 or 4 outboards on it. I was quite sure that no insurance company would even attempt a rebuild, it would just be totaled and sold practically for scrap.... But would it be worth while to buy this boat for pennies on the dollar for a rebuild? Mainly what I am asking is if the hull is worth even attempting a project like this? I guess it mainly depends on the extent of the damage, but since it floated for several days I guess it may be doable. I would love to see a project like this from start to finish!!! Maybe the original owner will buy it back and restore it (if cost effective). I enjoy learning about boating, and projects! David

  10. Can a boat with this damage be fixed? Just curious, I mean it still floats!! David
  11. I just a few weeks ago receive authorization to sell Nikon products (wholesale) and will be purchasing a very nice camera in the near future ( still picking it out ). I live in NC and would be more than happy to take pictures for RB, and post them here! Let me know when you need this! David
  12. Wiley, I believe we need a refined set of rules, such as how much gas is in the tanks, windshields, tackle, ice, ect... We should have "set" rules, so there is not bi$ching, and wining about my boat did not have this, and my boat had this ect... Also my boat went into guardian mode, ect... Give plenty of notice so the owners/drivers can have there $hit together, and no excuses. Grove Slam (no offense to them, a very nice event ) has had so many variables with the race that it's not even funny. Also Wiley have alot of beautiful girls there ( I know you have the connections ). My opinion: Set the rules (firmly) Have the boats equally loaded, and fueled If you lose you lose, and that is that, no whining ect.... Reelboating is about the truth, and no BS so Wiley set it up and David
  13. Jemendiola, First, I do not represent Proline, never said I did. I work for Proline, when others asked where I work. I am not afraid to say who I work for, unlike others on this forum, THT, or elsewhere. Are you saying that if we state who we work for, and we present a personal opinion, then we are therefore branded as being the "company spokesperson", and therefore what we say is instantly the opinion of the company? What kind of netherworld do you live in, where you can't not only state who your employer is, but, lest you voice your opinion, live in fear that it may come back to your employer, and you face getting canned? I don't want to live in your world. I stated my opinion (actually, I toned it down a bit), and it is just that, my opinion. Young makes a high quality boat, and I believe Mr. Opaleski made an excellent choice in the Young 24. But the (3) 5208s is what got me. People with money didn't get that money buy wasting it, or spending stupidly. In my opinion, (2) 5208s on a 24 is overkill, (3) is, well, I won't say what I really think. That is what caught my eye regarding this thread. Had he simply posted a thread on his new Young, I probably would have looked at it and gone my merry way. But to throw that out about the (3) 5208s in the thread title, well, basically, that says to me, "Hey, I've got a few extra thousands to spend unwisely, this is what I did". As I stated before, a single 5208 or even a 5212 at the helm would have sufficed, with 440Cs at the bow and stern. Now that is spending your money wisely, regardless of how much you have... When I was with Stamas, we had a 370 Express brought back to the plant, '03, that hull delam issues. Basically had to take the whole engine room apart. Boat was easily $500K, yet the gennie was rusted away to nothing, the batt charger, water heater ditto, all the bronze hardware greener than The Hulk, and the whole engine room stank to high heaven. Well, I guess that was a half mil well spent...but I'm sure the owner liked to show his buddies his new toy... So, therefore, I opine. And I will continue to do so. My bosses don't have a problem with it. As a matter of fact, it is I that introduced Mike C to this site. Proline, as a company, didn't do any of this sort of thing, until I suggested it would be good business for Mike to get on here, as well as THT. I have been an INDIVIDUAL member, with no Proline affiliation (other than the fact that I work for them) here on reelboating since it's inception. My member number is 637. I have been on THT since August 2007. AS AN INDIVIDUAL! Want to attack me? Go right ahead. I'm a big boy, I can take it. But to hide my employer for fear that they may take action against me due to my statements or opinions, well, thanks, but no thanks, you can have your communist world. And I will ALWAYS stand behind the product we build, as I am proud of it, and take great satisfaction in the products and the people of Proline. I wish Mr. Opaleski all the best with his new boat, I also wish the Young family continued success in these very difficult times... Any other questions? My opinion is that 250 Osprey is just trying to state that he thinks that the OP spent a little more on electronics than he should have. No harm done, he works for Proline and does the best for there customers, as I am sure Young boats does too! Certain persons jobs are to keep the quality up, but the cost down without making any sacrifices. I have no affiliation of either company, but from what I can see both companies build exceptional boats to there niche/markets. Mr. Osprey was just trying to give his experience on the matter from his niche/market. No need to start any arguments, just casual conversation here! David
  14. Maybe we should have a RB Slam??? To put the two-three boats in question up to the challenge? We can make it EQUAL, so that there is no BS this boat had this, and this boat did not have that... I think that the three boats in questions ( Invinvible, Fountain, and Yellowfin ) are the top three boats in there class!!!! When I have the funds, these three boats will be in my "short list" and I will sea trial each of them too see which one fits "my" needs, as well as every owner should!! PS: Ken2; I will soon be re powering my Cohasset with a new 4 stroke motor, and you will be the 1st person I contact in regards to the prop that I pick! The reason for this is because I see the dedication that you put into your work, and product. I believe you are like me, you will do things for customers that you would do in your own boat. I do the quality of work in my A/V Jobs just as I would do in my own house! David
  15. Glad you got the pics, but sorry for the boat owners, that has to suck for them! Be ready for several people contacting you wanting the pics, and hopefully this does not turn out to be a de-lamination/spontanious combustion thread. Wiley I think you have the best seat in the house, first the Midnight Express, now this, and many many more to come!!! You should become "friends" with some news anchors, and maybe they can pay you for your pics/stories!!!! David
  16. Where are the pics at MR WILEY??? Is the boat back in the water, or are they timid to ride by your house again?? = TRUTH!!! David
  17. I am sure he can dig up a picture of you in a minute!! LOL he has multiple pictures of anyone who goes in and out of that inlet!! David
  18. Must of been a good Birthday!!! He is MIA! Lol David
  19. My vote for Cannon as well. A couple of years ago I was helping a friend of mine find some accessories for Penn Downriggers that he already had, and needless to say finding the swivel brackets, and the rod holder mounts seemed impossible. I was told at the time that someone bought Penn, but the new manufacturer quit making the downriggers (at the time). So finding accessories was not easy. Good luck! David
  20. Wiley, I am still unable to connect RB with Facebook, I posted a response to this on the origonal FB link page. Still not working, any suggestions?? David
