  1. I need a little advice, we are planning on leaving a boat in the bahamas (Elbow Cay) for an extended period of time at a house with a dock. What is the best way to protect the boat / motors from being stolen. It a 26 Scout with twin Yam 225's.

Put it on a lift, isolation or hidden master key, motor cylinder locks, GPs locator?

The caretaker will check on it periodically but I thought it could use an added level of security.

I know if anyone wants something they can take it but I'm trying to minimize the risk.

    Suggestions?

  2. Anybody know where I can get a 26 x 14 piece of teak?

I'm looking to redo the dash on my kids 1975 BW Montauk and instead of redoing the fiberglass I thought I've cover it in wood to match the rest of the boat.

    Thanks.

Probably any good wood working or cabinet shop can make one, that size will probably be two ro more boards glued / epoxied together. Also I think the BW's were mahogany instead of teak.

If you cant find one i know a shop here in Charleston, SC taht will make it for you. will need to know thickness as well.

    Good luck!

  3. I have about 150 hrs on my 250 and have not had an ounce of trouble.

Here is a story i have meant to post:

At around the one year aniversary I was looking through my documents and realized i never got my $500 gas card which was a promotion during the sale period. I had worked a really great deal with the dealer due to his floor plan coming to an end so i didnt think much about it, actually i wasnt sure it was part of the deal I got.

I called BRP to check on any updates and asked the guy at tech support about the gas card. He said he was sorry but that deal had ended several months back and the dealer was supposed to fill out some paperwork. No biggie, I thanked him for checking and helping me with the updates and hung up.

About a week later I get a letter from BRP...... They essentially apologized for the "mix up" said the gas card was no longer available since it was a joint promotion from Shell Oil... etc...etc....

And attached a check for $500.00

That, my friends, is customer service!

If you call BS I got the letter and a copy of the check!

  4. he deserved to win by simply keeping his cool. Good Job!

I also agree about Tiger. I was there on Friday and you could tell when Tiger was about two holes away because the numbber of folks would start to triple and crowd in. One guy commented "Good night, You would think he was coming into town on a Donkey they way folks are gathering.." He is one Heck of aGolfer though.

  5. Thanks Hotspot,

Thats sort of what i was thinking but all the "if you wax it it cleans up better" talk got me to thinking about trying it. The sand nonskid gets really dirty looking...

Plus i just removed and replaced my non skid on the gunnels today and it looks so good I want to figure out a way to keep it looking good.

I'll give it a try and post some results....

  6. Thanks, I will. Around here they have been using big treble hooks and 80lb braid on Internation reels. That always seemd like a good way to lose a lot of line and tangle a gator up to die later.. I like the dart and float idea. I'll check our regs last year was our first season on them.

How are things in Destin? I used to stomp around there about 20 years back (high scool and college) PCB, Mexico Bch, Ft Walton ..... good times! Those gulf beaches are super nice!

  7. DDHand - our names David and Debi

The boat is the blue crab... my father in law told me a long time ago he was going to buy a boat and name it after his firstborn... The SS CRAB! I did it for him.

Well actually the kids named it, they think its hillarious to tell people the story "cause, you know, Mom can be kinda crabby...... and the boat is blue" :D
