Yes, you need two deep cycle and hooked in series, that's how you get 24 volts. I have had that set up or years and now have a 101 lb thrust Minn Kota, 36 volt. Deep cycle batteries must be fully charged after every use. I have a 3 bank on board charger that I plug in when I get home. I used a matching set of portable chargers for my 24 V system on my bass boat for 20 years. Either way works. Note: The batteries should be the same (Matched pair). DO NOT use different types, sizes, etc. The distance from your batteries to the trolling motor is important. Most will recommend you have 6 ga. min wiring. The connections should be clean and tight.

jj, Just saw your thread, kids, that's what it's all about! Took both of mine as soon as it was safe to have them in a boat. Prior to that we fish ponds from the bank. My daughter is now 20 and my son will be 22, Aug. 9! Holy smokes!! Time flies. Never miss an opportunity to take them. My kids still talk about past trips. Hell, I still talk about trips with my Dad. I have had a few bad "Guest" on my boats that were pretty good friends. When they take advantage when they know better, they are never asked to go again.

Do you guys use the the charcoal chimneys ? I haven't but I was checking them out at Lowes. I've never had a gas grill, always charcoal. Love the smell.

I believe I have it, at least that's what my lovely wife says and I am tired all day. Years ago it was no problem. I'm 52 now. I thought it was just getting older. Met a new contractor yesterday and we got to talking about falling asleep while driving and the subject came up. He said he has sleep apnea, they did a study over night with him and he got a , I think it's called, "Sea Pac" . Any way he said very proudly that after sleeping with it on the first night, the next morning he woke up a new man, a completely different person. Maybe that's what I need.
