Hi there, got a minor prob. I just bought a 17 ft Cape Craft ( got tired of getting beat up off Shore) and the rub rail is all discollored. It is a hard rubber of some kind. Is there any kind of stain or paint that can be used on it that will stand up under salt water? Thanks for the help. Ginrickri
Hi...
Do you have a close up pic (even from a cell phone) so I can possibly come up with a suggestion?

Thanks for the responses. I need to look for new caps. The engine is a 1990 Yamaha 85 2 stroke aith a with a single hose. But both of my caps are sealed. If I can't find new caps I guess I need to buy new tanks.

Are 6 gallon metal portable tanks suppose to vent? After mine sit in the heat for a while the gas expands and spills/vents out the fill neck. The fill caps on mine seal tightly and if I open the caps slowly alot of air is expelled but I still get a spill. Am I suppose to leave the caps on loosely? Do the tanks need rebuilding and where do you buy a rebuild kit?

Aurora Marine supposedly has a product that cleans and protects rubrails. I've never used it but you may want to check there website or call them before you go to the expense and hassle of replacing a rubrail.
