  1. TimW Texas ...... you sound & write like Capt. Fred Archer ??? Are you one & the same ???? What about The TOAD ????? my favorite chase bait, that I never get to use ....... ...... ICM
  2. Where in NC will you be fishing ??? Cigar Minnows [CM] are everywhere, Sabiki them up - both live & dead CM will work ..... For dead CM either Hank Brown rigs or Pirate Plugs will work ..... Dolphins, Kings & a few Sails are in close sometimes less then 7 miles off the beach & feeding on CM .... Not sure about the Wahoos ........ With that said we when hunting for Sails yesterday - trolling only Ballyhoo 25 to 30 miles off ....... Had the whole spread loaded with blue & white sea witch's, Striptease Dredge, Squid daisy chain, everything on top - 6 rod spread - only caught 2 Barracudas & 1 King ......... I am sure we over ran the Dolphins & knew it going in ........ While my buddy, Capt. John ran a half day trip & had 7 Mahi's, 3 Kings & 1 Sail - running only 3 lines - at times he could only get 2 lines out before hooking up - using live Cigar Minnows - less then 10 miles out & was back at the ramp by 11 am ......... That's why you hire Professionals ...... Hope this helps ............. ICM
  3. When back to the secret spot #1 with a buddy Ed " aftergolf " & his son John's first ever Red......... Spent most of the morning in the wrong cove, but did manage to land to Rat Reds on Topwater......... ICM
  4. Had my revenge today - when top water fishing for Reds today with my buddy David C. - I caught 7 & the biggest ( 26" ) - he had 6 ......... My goal in life is to " catch one more then David..... " Life is Good! ......... ICM Good intel from Capt. Mike " No Excuses " & Capt Lee "Gottofly " ........ Props to Capt. Ren Clark - that colorful Skitter walker Jr. worked great until I lost it .......
  5. The picture showed the anchor line tied to the port side lifting ring on the transom................big mistake I will never make......... I keep a sharp knife in a hatch near the anchor line, had to cut one anchor line last year & was feeling bad about that till now........thanks again......ICM http://www.myfwc.com/NEWSROOM/Resources/Ne...oatAccident.htm
  6. There is live turbo sized Pogeys everywhere - marinas, ICW, inlets - look for flipping on the water & throw a 7' or larger cast net ......... Perfect for slow trolling for Kings, Cobia, Dolphin & bottom fishing for Groupers ........ Sabiki rigs will catch live Cigar Minnows, Threadfins & occasionally King or Spanish ....... Small Blues make great baits ........ Yozuri & Mann's deep divers, Drone Spoons & Dolphin Weenies with a trailing strip of Uncle Josh Pork Strip in white ............ Buy frozen Cigar Minnows & Squid is a good alternative ........ As far as location - any AR or live bottom - find the bait, with structure & most likey you will find the fish .......... Without knowing your boat, or how it's rigged or your experience level or the crew ........ The basic Spread - 1 rod down & 3 on top - Live bait - troll live bait rigs, slow ( almost idle speed ) to keep your bait swimming & alive ......... Dead bait - Pirate Plugs & Hank Brown rigs work great for frozen baits - they will or should not spin if rigged right. Trolling speed around 5 to 6 mph - you can also add Deep Divers off the flat line & Dolphin Weenies long ....... Always have extra spinning rods rigged for Cobias, Dolphins that might swim by ....... This time of year you don't have to go to the Stream to have a good day of catching ..... Hope this helps ............ ICM
  7. That was a different operator over ride ........ ICM
  8. The last 2 days been back in the suds - with my buddy David C. On Wed. afternoon get a call from David while in Tex's Tackle, asking me if I want to go for a boat ride & check out his new Garmin GPS/Sonar . Rush home to change & grab a rod or two just in case ......... Cast netted some turbo Pogeys head to the spot - Less then 5 minutes of anchoring up we both have caught & released 2 over slot Reds each - then the bite stops ........ Back to the boat to fine turn the Garmin ....... On Thurs. afternoon get a call from David while at Home Depot asking me if I want to go for a boat ride - DeJa Vu - all over again . Rush home to change & grab 3 rod this time, good thing because he forgot his big stick . Cast netted some smaller Pogeys head to the spot & it's on again - First cast 33" Red for me - I'm happy but the conditions are getting ugly ..... David continues to cast further then me with my rod & hooks up every time - This is not good, so I load the Abu up throw into the wind & get the mother of all backlashes - Game over for me, but not for David - all I could do was watch him catch Reds on almost every cast with my back up rod . Back at the boat, I'm pulling up the anchor, he's gloating & saying stuff " like nice balanced rod..... you should get one ..... " I could do nothing but smile, while plotting my revenge, with my head down I spot about a 40# Cobia swimming between us & the bank ......... Slip the anchor back over & tried to get him to take a boat ride with us, with everything he had - Live Pogeys, cut Pogeys, free lined Pogeys, bottom rigged Pogeys & white bucktails - but sadly we never saw him again . On the way back to the dock we see a partial floating 15' Sailboat with 2 boats & a group of people bailing her out . We stop to help with the bailing, end up towing the Sailboat & her owner to a friends dock . Thanks to all that had the good sense to aide a person in distress ............ ICM Sorry - No picture from our super secret spot ........
  9. I have a '06 / 22' Twin Vee 2X115 4stroke Suzukis - 3 blade props - top speed about 28 mph ....... burn a little less then 2gal. per mile ........ Garmin 2006C & Garmin 198C - both have Garmin transom transducer - Was having issues with intermittent reading depths from day one ....... The 198C transducer was mounted right behind the brass clam shell, live well pick up - on the right side on the port hull - creating turbulence ......... Moved it to the left side edge of port hull & now it reads at every speed without any problems ........ The bracket on the 2006C broke, but the transducer was still reading .......... Removed the broken bracket - placed the transducer in the starboard side hull - first with clear caulking ( that didn't work ). Went with Exopy Putty around the side edges of the transducer - works like a dream & reads at all speeds ............. Hope this helps ......... ICM

  12. The right place on this day........ Fished with a great group of guys out of Jacksonville........ Phil / John / Scott / Ricky Bobby & Ervin........ We ended up with 39 Dolphin, 1 WeeHoo - Total weight at the cleaning station 555# ......... We raised 3 Marlins, had one on for a few seconds without a hook up . But, Ervin was accepted into the prestigious Big Blue Marlin Club with a 250# - released alive - citation # 1 John caught a 45# Dolphin that was 66' long - citation # 2 ......... My Dolphin weighted in at 40# - citation # 3 ............. Thanks to Capt John for asking me to replace a last minute drop out...... Thanks to Capt. Kevin & mate Joey of the Trophy Hunter for giving us a lifetime of great memories ......... ICM http://www.vimeo.com/4941310
  13. When bottom fishing we always have a light line on a float drifting behind the boat from the t-top......... Always have pitch baits rigged & ready .......... Topwater plugs will get their attention, too .......... Storm or Calcutta 6" rubber shads ( used for Stripers ) trolled close to the boat work ...... Yozuri Deep Diver - flat line position about 10 yards produced our best Mahi yesterday...... Down waste your time fishing during a full or new moon ( like we did yesterday ) Hope this helps ......... ICM
  14. The ICM has just arrived - will hopefully be adding worth while post........ I fish from the dock to the Stream - from the bottom to the top - for me it's all about improving & sharing what I have learned .......... ICM
