  1. I recieved a '2015 Watersports Gear Guide" in the mail today...I think via my Boating magazine subscription. I saw an ad for Wet Sounds new Stealth Series Sound Bars...

Jim-Have you installed or listened to any of them?

I'm looking for some speakers to mount under the front bench seat on my classic 15' Whaler... One of these sound bars looks like it could be perfect if it gets decent sound out of the small speakers...

  2. I think my bigger concern at the moment is the western/northern part of the canal...the dump area, then mangrove area approaching the drawbridge for 84.

It has a lot of new looking markers, following along what looks like homemade sticks (like in the flats in the Keys). As if someone formalized the locally marked channel. There are what seems to be an abundance of markers, so one could say now that its marked well...

Just looking for some recent first hand knowledge.

  3. What do I need to watch out for when navigating the Dania Cut Off Canal, from the Intercostal to the New River?

I'm aware there is a NOTAMed "Hazardous Rock Outcropping" near Harbortowne Marina:

Though I don't know how old that is, or if its still there post-dredging.

I also know stories of a few experienced folks that hit bottom along the canal (unknown where) and did some prop/lower unit damage...

I haven't run it for years....but it can serve as a good back road for me now if its safe to navigate....

  4. Why is it that we have to wait until the end of the ban to get the shirts? We should be able to wear them know and post pictures on that other forum... There will be no need to "Free BOE" in December!

By the way....it was good to finally meet you in person at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show...I swung through right after lunch on Saturday :)

  5. This is a welcome to all the new members who have recently joined ReelBoating.com

Take a few seconds to introduce yourself. We're nice over at this boating forum!

    I'm back!

But for the record, you chastised me a time or two back on that other forum :)

Sorry I've drifted away...this may be as good a reason as any to come back....

What has Wiley been up to?

  6. Hello everyone. I'm looking for some names of some good charter boats in Key West. It's for a bachelor party. Probably 12-15 guys. I'm really wanting to stay away from head boats. I realize I may need to charter 2 boats to accomodate the number of people. I've chartered in other Keys before and know that some have sister boats or more than one boat in the fleet. Just don't have any experience with Key West. We'll be going sometime in August or September of this year. Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge.

Hurricane Hole has some of the nicer boats, and they always seems to come back with a nice catch. I've spent an aweful lot of time tied up at the restaurant there...

The suggestion for the folks from Murray's is probably sound also.

Conchy Joes is the main bait shop on the island...looks like they book some charters now too... The owner of Conchy Joes is a good fisherman, I wouldn't expect he'd tarnish his shop's reputation with bad charters.

When I lived there a couple years ago there was a big charter outfit that ran out of Stock Island that I was never too impressed with. I never fished with them, but it seemed like they only took folks to places that were really close by. I can't remember their name, nor can I find a website that looks like theirs. Maybe they went out of business. Seems to me that they had the contract for the cruise ships...so maybe thats why they didn't venture too far.
