now Im waiting on the autotether & steering ram to show up cant decied what type of thru hull transducers to do I wish I could afford the tilted elements they would be the easiest to install & no worrys about knocking them off in the shallows.

To much time in the heat spent over an hour diagnosing why the tilt & trim wasn't working at the switch. checking the switch & relay box all connections only to realize that the wires from the switches to the harness had not been connected in the floor ugh. well heres some pics ill get some newer shots tonight or tomorrow.

I'm having problems with the attachment window so heres some pics the old fashioned way.

  4. Do you REALLY want to drill four inch-and-a-half holes in your transom? And do you REALLY fully trust the claim of no water intrusion in the event of broken glass?

On top of that, look at your total amps (2.9 amps x 4 lights) - - that's a pretty heavy draw, and will run your battery down fairly quickly.

LEDs will also last a whole lot longer than the incandescent bulbs; have you looked into the replacement cost of the MR8 bulbs? :504_shrugging:

The decision, obviously, is yours; just pointing out some potential pitfalls of the ones you're considering. Kinda reminds me of that old adage "Penny wise and pound foolish".

Frank mentioned scarabchris "over on THT". Chris is a very active participant right here at RB. Drop him a PM, or he may come along and fill you in on more of the many benefits of LEDs vs incandescents.

bulbs are 3.50 a peice amp draw not a concern I have an 8d battery they will be run off of. main concern in brightness.

which will be brighter 4 halogens 35 w or 2 led I dont mind the leds

  5. PatrickG, I am sorry, I just can't do business in Nigeria anymore. My last sales endeavor, selling cashier check printing machines, has hit rock bottom. This is why I am branching out to the USA fishing industry. Nearly everyone in Nigeria has one of my machines now. It became increasingly difficult, as time went on, to get paid for my product and services there.

    Regards

I have to chime in on the nigeria deal I had one of those guys on the hook for a week calling me must have cost them a fortne on there phone bill. I kept him calling me about 3 times a day trying to get the western union information & I just kept telling made up info. Finally I got sick of messing with him & let him have my 2 cent. but I did have everybody at work rolling when he would call me. :239_fishing:

  7. I am close to the end of this boat restoration. I have a 3 bank charger 3 batteries run at 12 volt. 1 engine 1, 1 engine 2, 1 for trolling motor & electric downriggers. my delema i was going to run each battery seperate however once I got into it I relised the tach for engine 1 was not working I had pulled the ground off the switch panel which is hooked to engine 2's battery. I droped a new ground for the tach. works fine but the light doesnt work switch panel is wired to engine 2 while ground comes from #1 question can I use a ground wire from battery 1 to battery 2 if so how does it efect the charger? should i keep the trolling motor battery out of the loop?

  8. I boat in the Northeast and am only recently fishing the reefs 5-10 miles from the LI shore.

As a kid fishing with my Dad, I remember chumming offshore. It was a sloppy mess that I ladled overboard every few minutes to get a good slick going.

Lately, some guys have been talking about dropping a bucket of frozen chum to the bottom on a line. I was a little concerned about the line tangling my running gear with the boat moving in the swells so I instead used a chum roll tied in a net and hung off the stern. I don't think this went very well.

I guess I'm looking for good advice and techniques for doing this effectively. Boat doesn't have outriggers so not possible to tie it off and hold away from the boat that way. Is there a special bucket or do you punch holes in the one it comes in?

Any helpful suggestions and tips are appreciated.

    Thanks

well there are many choices for chumming sounds like your dad mixed his own. Ive never dropped them to the bottom I do like the cages better than the bags seems to dispense the chum better i also use liquid menhaden oil or milk which I dispense thru the superchumslick. I tie the cage to a front cleat when anchored. The basic principal is to keep your bait in the chum line so make sure you tie the chum off where your rods will be in the chum slick. ********** all chum is not equal************** some works some don't once I find one that works i try to stick to it. I like the super bee chum works for me
