  1. well Ive got a t-top close to install but I'm not sure I like it also picked up some lencotrolling tabs analog model. lenco customer service took care of me on some missing parts so I should be good to go on installation next week. Let me know what you think of the t-top my main reason for the top is storage theres very little storage on the boat for life vests & it will keep the vhf antenna & the outriggers out of the way.
  2. just got dunn with this problem on a 70 hp evinrude I replaced an intermiting running powerpack. It would fire right up next time nothing new power pack started having the same issues. Turned out to be the powerpack ground I noticed the ground was loose moved it from the origional spot to a free bolt close to the power pack & never anouther problem. I would move the ground & see if the intermitting starting goes away. If not then replace the powerpack but you may find it's a ground since someone else worked on it you might want to double check all the grounds. including at the battery.
  3. glad to here that now ley will give him a slap on the wrist & send him home. they should cut a hand off & mount it on his front door.
  4. we I received a raymarine l760 decide to add a 12 deg tilted thru hull transducer here's the pics of the install came with the connector for the a series so I had to use the conector of the old transom transducer that came with the unit theres the possibility that the green & brown have to be grounded to get the transducer to fire so you want to check the conection before soldering color to color make sure the wires dont touch plug into the unit & turn the unit on you should here the clicking in the trans if not seek profesional help (which im not). . Ill give a report on performance compared to the sitex 833 with transom mount transducer onboard. my plans for the l760 is a gps but long term Iplan on replacing the sitex with a humminbird si unit. which will give me a back up for both gps & fishfinder. I have had many a trip ruined by loss of electronics I'm hoping the redundant systems will fix that. So far having the twin engines has done that a couple of times while I'm working out the kinks. here's some pics easier to install than my last thru hull which had to have fairing. I ended up using 5200 for bedding since I had some at the house I guess it's going with the boat when I sell it. conector on left a serise on right l760 c series. temp conection to test transducer almost flush gps & fishfinder boat on trailer
  5. so 4200 is as water tite as 5200 just a little less bonding power
  6. just got my b60 12 deg tilted transducer planing on putting it in this weekend & getting out fishing next week. when ive done other thru hull fittings ive used 5200 is that the best to use or what are some of you useing instead pretty sure if I use 5200 it's never coming back out.
  7. should have taken it back to the retailer. best case they send you a new unit. worst they fix yours it's a bad board & you keep having problems thats what lowrance does.

  10. Im haveing an issue with the boat listing to port. In order to correct I have to trim the port motor all the way in to the hull & the starboard engine over trimmed inorder to get the boat to run level. twin 70 noncounter rotation. im planing on adding trim tabs but want to make sure im not compensating for something i need to adjust in the motors.
  11. andrea I took the boat for it's first run offshore run while on vacation in nags head. your product was the answer I had been looking for I fish from a small boat in big water by myself. . The day started as a normal day who wants to go fishing fell on def ears looks like just me again. While 20 off origon inlet I ran into a motor problem well I leaned over the motor to unhook cover lock & slipped landed on the cover just under my waist & managed to grab ahold of somthing I dont even remember what it was. After I was glad to know I had my auto tether on it would have shut down both motor for me. Project boat & trailer ---------------------------------------------------------500.00 motors, electroncis, lights, wiring, gauges, livewell, console, seats, switches ,batteries , trolling motor, steering, pumps, trim tabs, coolers, & paint -------------1.2 mil peice of mind your engines will shut off when you end up in the water--- priceless add in the abillity to move anywhere you want on the boat for 235.00 really is ---------------------------------------------------------------priceless
  12. thats what alot of us have found out. eventily no matter how much they spend on advertizing it will catch up & that will be that. Take a company like bennet (bennet trim tabs) call them up ell them what your having problems with or what part you cant find & they will offer to ship it out depending on what it is alot of times it's free. minnkota jut covered brand new trolling motor under warentee i had 10 min of run time before breaking the shaft when I cought it on the dock. nedless to say when the repair shop contacted them told them the truth totally my fault they said cover it. when im ready for a new trolling motor guess what thats right it will be minnkota. also have to get some tabs for the project boat there going to be bennett. repeat customers thats what customer service is all about. guess that 2000.00 I spent with lowrance will be going to si-tex this time.
  13. great a.j. I had to do a replay after seeing the fin come up in the back ground . caught it with the corner of my eye the first time & thought it was a shark turned out to be a dolphin.

  15. she's a 2001 hull 18' twin 70 hp evinrudes. I just got back from nags head cut her teeth on oregon inlet on Sunday. had a great time. fished offshore the first day had a motor problem went to come in & the port engine wouldn't start sounded like the starter went. she will plane on a single engine & run 14 or so mph. ended up being a ruff ride beck in due to weather & only one engine. ordered the starter Monday morning due in the Tuesday morning. so we fished from the beach at the bridge on Monday caught black drum flounder & sheephead. Tuesday got up went out to take the old starter off & what did I find. 2 loose bolts & the starter was sitting at a slight angle. tightened the bolts & it fired right up I had tried to jump start it on the way in & I'm thinking the starter had the motor locked up since it would not disengage by itself. I'm actually going to try jump starting it on my next outing. well Tuesday my daughter went with me we fished the bridge for sheephead (had a ball) then drifted out of the inlet & caught a ton of undersized flounder. so after a few drifts we headed out of the inlet & did some drifts for sharks. one bite a small shark. so we headed in around 5:30. Wednesday I took the wife & her girl friend out we fished around the pier for sheep head caught some small ones. drifted the in side of the bridge caught lizard fish then the wife started turning green so we headed back in. Thursday & Friday spent some time with the family. all in all it was a great trip to try the boat out used 10 gallons per motor for 3 days of fishing. I did fill up after the offshore trip used boat ran great it was wet in a crossing sea. normally I would run with it then run the shoreline but on 1 motor I wasnt going to go any farther than I had to so the straightest line to the inlet was the route I took. boat cruses in the 30's on 2 motors planes on 1 at 14 mph. now i have to do some playing with the props to get her just right.
  16. Ive been bussy on yard work but stoled some time (very little) to install the hull lights. i was surprised at how quick & easy they are to install. I have some deck lights to install but think im going to need more which ill get some more before installing.

  19. Im wondering if the change of fuel color is due to ethenol eating the fuel lines? i cant figure out why it would change from blue to brown after sitting for a day?
  20. took her out yesterday still have a couple of problems to work thru. 1-high speed jets on one of the motors need to be cleaned. 2-both motors need cables moved around on the shifters 3-I belive if I get ther cables corrected ill get the rpms up I dont belive im getting enough throtal on both motors. 4-new tachs showed up so install those. good news when I did get her to plane she ran 28 at 3000 rpm on the flat icw. got to the inlet it was choppy 2 foot & very windy headed into the wind crossing the inlet. speed increased to 38 mph im thinking more lift from the wind  all in all im very pleased I need to work out the motor kinks took a couple of pics befor splashing just incase it sunk to the bottom
  21. steering done, doing auto tether this afternoon. figured out the motor issue. I had a power pack replaced & the mechanic didnt get it grounded good. Oh wait im the mechanic well the carbs are clean ill be water testing in the mornning.

  23. steering ram & the autotether. I got the ram installed but I need to install the autotether. *** I ran into an issue with one of the motors i bielive it's an electrical gremlin. replaced the powerpack due to being told that was the issue with the motor. It wont idle & sometimes wont start at all. leave it sit & it will turn over get it to run for a few minutes at high idle it wont restart. I replaced the carbs with a spare set replaced the fuel pump plugs. compresion checked 120/115/120. it's getting spark intermitently.any ideas.
