  1. The story says at the end that the chase went on for about a minute. Thats a pretty long time. I am sure what happened is during that chase this officer is becoming more and more agitated and scared wondering just what kind of folks he is chasing who won't stop. But when the vehicle turned into the hospital, you might think a light would go on in his head. And surely when the situation unfolded, he should have been able to get out of his swat mode and start helping. I would fire him.
  2. If you don't have help, find a reputable shop equipped with a power purge pump system. Makes flushing and bleeding a quick job.
  3. It should be mandatory training for all cops to watch all the episodes of Mayberry. Andy had it about right. The problem is some these guys would do the job for free just to get to wear the uniform, carry the gun and drive the car.
  4. Free Cold Beer Fondlers of Cute Boobies There has been some debate over this. Actually it stands for Forumly Challenged Boaters
  5. Whangaroa? Is that a real name? Sounds sorta like a place for an org**m. Nice boat.
  6. I can relate. After having labs, bird dogs, etc., we got a West Highland Terrier about 4 years ago. Kin to a Scottish Terrier I think, but they are white. He is a total ###### (P R I C K), let me tell you. Thinks he weighs about 150 lbs. I have never seen him back down from a confrontation, no matter how big the other dog was. And his teeth hurt!!
  7. It came to me in a dream. Then I saw it on Freebird's site, then got two emails from Wiley.
  8. Hey, I don't always practice what I am preaching here either. Its hard to draw the line sometimes. Disagreements are going to happen, and its hard to ignore some things.
  9. I think the best thing is to ignore those posts, as much as you can. Don't give those extreme comments and commenters any more power than they deserve by responding. Just let them drop on the floor and dry up like a little spill. I posted a thread over there in January about repowering my Seacat and it actually went very well. Several pages, going through the merits of Optis, yamahas, Etecs and finally Suzukis (which is what I finally got). For the most part it was reasoned informed discussion, although there were a few skirmishes. I changed my mind 3 times in the course of the thread. But the key is to ignore these posts that are obviously biased or agenda driven. When you respond, you just feed the cancer.
  10. I took a sea trial on a 21' Seacat at the 1993 Miami Boat show and ever since have been a big fan of catamarans. About the time I signed up on THT, I was nearing the end of a long search for a Seacat SL3. Seemed like I had been scouring ebay and every boating site forever, so I came up with Cat-a-holic. Got the Seacat, but after a while I got a little tired of the name. I looked into changing names on THT, but seems like Wiley said it was going to be a big hassle so I kept it. By the time I signed up on Freebird's site, I wanted a new name. One of the things I enjoy here in the backwoods of E. Kentucky is tromping through the mountains looking for rock shelters once occupied by indians. Its especially fun to go out on a nasty winter day with a bunch of friends, build a big fire in one of these rock over-hangs, sit around drinking half a day and cook up some nice steaks or something. Maybe tell big lies. So I came up with Caveman. May have been drinking at the time. Once had a 43' boat called Anchor Lounge. I think maybe that had to do with drinking too. The Seacat doesn't have a name......yet.
  11. Good quality floating. Another advantage is you can MOVE a floating dock if it becomes necessary for some reason.
  12. I have had power packs go out a couple of times on an Evinrude 90 I owned. They can indeed go out intermittantly before they die completely, but mine had seperate power packs for each bank of cylinders as I recall. The engine would still run on 2 of 4 cylinders, so that makes me think your problem may not be the power pack. I would look at the quick start feature or stator issues mentioned in the other posts.
  13. Not to derail or anything, but keep posting Trrooster. That avatar is giving me fits.
  14. I think we all should be entitled to an extended sea trial with each before answering that.
  15. Having spent a good bit of my life in courtrooms, I know whenever you have an adversarial arena, things can get out of hand. And, having spent another good bit of my life in bars, I also know that certain topics like religion and politics can make it hard to keep order, even among friends. So I have no problem with banning the polictical discussions, however the real key is for folks to keep a civil tongue in their heads. You can engage in friendly joshing and banter without going over the line into personal insult and invective. And I think we all know where that line is and can stay on the right side of it if we want to. Wiley will no doubt step in if he needs to, but we can all make his job a lot easier if we exercise self restraint.
  16. I agree. And I already knew those Etecs could sink my Suzuki. Once you part them out, they make great anchors.
  17. You left out Suzuki, the best outboard on the market today.
  18. Well this year I should be able to bring my boat since its sitting up the river a ways. Is there an actual date?
  19. At the time I regretted missing that excursion. Maybe it was a good thing.
