  1. I shoulda known that was coming. OK, you back yard engineers, just put the ladder down on that crawdad hole and use a couple of bricks to level it up. You'll be fine.
  2. Back your pickup truck up to the tree and put a ladder up there and tie off your rope as high as you can. Should be high enough. As someone else said, you aren't really pulling the tree down, just need a little tug -- the main job is accomplished at the butt of the tree. Good luck!
  3. Been there diving twice, but the last time was 1983. Sorry no current info, but I doubt the diving has changed. You will be hard pressed to find better diving anywhere. Topside is desert like, very dry climate, but some fun exploring to do if you've a mind. I just wish I could go!
  4. Yep, I normally throw them in the trash. Not worth the time it takes to read thru it most of the time. And to Oreely, I don't think the number of responses has an effect on the attorney's fees. But I sure aint no expert on the subject. Last time I thought more than about 5 minutes about a class action suit was back in law school.
  5. I am attorney too and though no longer closing loans, have done my share. Fichtion's answer is right on the money. Secondary market mtg companies can be ###### in the extreme. They are actually much better for the most part than when I started years ago, but the whole banking/mtg lending situation of the last year no doubt has had an adverse effect. Usually the best to jump thru the hoops cause the alternative is not worth it.
  6. Must be a slow day in the ol' chatter room, seems to me.
  7. I am an attorney and I think you've got it about right. And what you describe is probably the reason for the rule allowing class actions. That is, there are various kinds of claims out there that are legit, but too small for any single party to prosecute. The class action mechanism gives means and and incentive to bring those cases to court, where you have large numbers of persons with the same grievance. Not saying its good or bad, but that is the rationale, or part of it anyway.
  8. I got it and have never been there either. But they did let me know about poor old Tred. And I said a little prayer for him.. So....it aint no thang, man.
  9. I am an attorney and that sounds like good advice to me. You could also call the local building inspector or city attorney and ask the same question you posed here. The answer will depend on their particular local ordinances.
  10. I have had my 1997 Seacat for two years now. It looked mighty good when I got it, but now after sitting outside (mostly with a canvas cover on) in FL for nearly two years the gel coat aint quite as shiny and new looking. Not chalky or anything, just more dull looking. I never do anything to my old whaler other than pressure wash. Years ago I had a real slick runabout that I did wax a couple of times I think, but I just aint real knowledgeable about this stuff and don't want to do anything too stupid. Any advice? Other than a good cleaning, what should I do to make it look new again?
  11. I don't know, but it looks like he stole my old Montauk and put a different name on it.
  12. Here is something you might not want to do>>>>
  13. Al Gore and the carbon nazis are going to get you!
  14. Happy Birthday Pete. I think its still your day in this hemisphere......or is it the other way around? Anyway, hope you had a good one.
  15. Its been easy pickin's and easy money for the pirates up to now. Time to change the odds for them.
  16. 3 years ago I bought a 2000 model Yamaha 90 with a bad lower unit on EBAY for $1100. Found a nearly brand new lower unit from a guy on another forum we all know for $500. Traded my old blown Evinrude for the rigging. With controls, gauges and prop I had the motor on & going for under $2500. The motor has great compression and runs perfectly. Naturally I would rather have had a new motor, but I barely use this boat which is 20+ years old (Whaler Montauk) and did not want to sink $7k into a new motor. So, check EBAY and Google used outboards and you will find quite a bit out there. May take some looking and as always, take care to check out the seller and the deal and you should be able to find what you want.
  17. Yeah, I still write checks too some. No real hold up these days, at least at the WM.
  18. No, always wanted one though. Could be a lot of fun after all those mint juleps. Actually on the mint juleps, I usually have only one real mint julep and for the rest of the evening leave out the mint, the julep and the bourbon and just add a sprig of mint to a straight Grey Goose martini.
  19. Looks like a blast. Could have a boat with single inboard for the ultimate challenge.
  20. Kentucky Derby party. It is mandatory for all Kentuckians. I impose upon myself an additional requirement of drinking a copious quantity of Mint Juleps.
