  1. Was watching a show from Bud ' Mary's, "Catch 22" on daytime broadbill fishing. Can anybody share the concept of how and where to tie the breakaway 10# concrete weight. I think they made their concrete weights by putting the mud in a coffee can with a metal loop on top for the line.

How does it break away when a fish strikes?

Thanks for any diagrams or info.

  2. Hi, Don

    Welcome to ReelBoating!

That trip sounds great, the kind I used to enjoy up on the Chesapeake. I don't have any useful firsthand info to pass along regarding your plans, but I'm curious ~~ is the SeaRay a replacement for your NauticStar, or do you still have that one also? :504_shrugging:

I know we have quite a few members down around Naples who will likely pop in here and give you some advice for that area.

Anxious to see how your plans develop; enjoy!

tHANKS FOR THE INTEREST, I still have the NauticStar and love it more everyday. I plan on renting a Sea Ray or equal for the trip am still looking for one to rent. Thanks don

  3. Hi All,

I'm trying to put together a 2-3 week vacation trip from Clearwater area to the keys. I know it only takes a day or two to get down there, but I want to enjoy the entire trip and not just rush to my destination.

I'm a fairly new boater, and consider myself a fair weather sailor. I want to spend every 2 or thrid night at a Boatel, where I can moor the boat and sleep in a hotel room.

I would like to fish and cruise and sightsee all at the same time.

If anyone has any experiances they would care to share. Any neat places to stay in the area from Clearwater to the keys and also in the keys area.

Once we get to the Keys we plan on taking a few guided fishing trips both inshore and off.

Please help by sharing with me any of your advice or experiances.

My boat is a sea ray sundancer 34 '

Please help plan my ultimate vacation trip.

    Thanks

    Don
