  1. Welcome to the forum. Sweet ride. hate to see them high and dry though. Mine just got hauled last week. Can't wait till spring.
  2. You probably don't need another axle but as mentioned, it will take some weight away from the truck and maybe make for a more stable ride. You will now have 4 bearings and tires to maintain but they will probably last longer since they are dividing the load. If you have brakes on the existing axle, I would think you could leave that alone and not need them on the added one. Assuming they are adequate now. Just make sure the lines are clear when you mount the new axle. You may need to do some moving around. You could probably contact the trailer manufacturer to find out recommended placement for the axles if they offer a similar size trailer with dual axles.
  3. I agree. with something like decals, you supply the art and it can be copied to decal anywhere in the world and shipped. Most places will prbably be willing to send you a small sample for your approval of materials and quality so shop the web. My company ships everything from small parts to full exhaust systems all over the world. UPS, FeEx, TNT and several others have reasonable rates. Just make sure you balance the costs of the product vs. shipping vs. picking up and paying sales tax. You never know, someone from a differnt part of the world, different cultures may have a fresh idea and add a more "local" flare to a design. Cold make for very interesting results.
  4. I figured I would post this here as well since this is our region. So the end of the season is here and like most who have and end of the season, I am bummed about putting the boat on the trailer for the winter. I have spent the past couple weekends stripping the boat of all of the cushions and gear, cleaning inside and out to be ready for shrink wrap and winterizing. I have had a persistant steering problem that my boat guys have not been able to get a handle on which has kept me off the fish for a while. Saturday I went down for the final get ready to be hauled. They boat mechanics owed me a detail from last year due to a not so hot pre-season job so I went to the yard, which is a small two man operation but very honest and overall very good to deal with. Both guys are great to work with. Even with the issues, I have had nothing but great experiences with them. Anyway, I went over and had my list of things I wanted done. I started explaining what I want done to the boat. The conversation was friendly as usual, no issues, no problems. I mention about the credit for the detail that the owner and I talked about when the next words out of the guys mouth stopped me in my tracks. It's never good when someone says " I guess you haven't heard the news" The owner and his young son we both killed when his private airplane went down last week. While I can't say I was best friends with him, I can say he was someone you could call a friend after even a short time talking to him. He was probably one of the few people I truly enjoyed doing business with and definitly enjoyed talking to and learning a thing or two from. He was just one of those guys. My wife described him as a real "old salt". Nothing but great things to say about the guy. If the apple fell close to the tree, his son was on his way to be just as great. So all of the sudden, my winterizing shcedule, a steering problem and a slightly dirty boat really don't mean shit. Let's put it into perspective guys and girls, life is short and it starts and ends on its own schedule. Do what you love, love what you do and love those around you because we never know when our last haul out will be. Ted, you will be missed for sure. It was our pleasure knowing you. My condolences and prayers go out to the wife and family.
  5. It is definitly good seeing someone trying something new. That's the good part However, I think it needs a whole lot more testing and developement before releasing as a new boat to be sold and definitly more as something that claims to be the future of boating. Looks more like a home made project for fun, not for world consumption. I'm not so sure the idea of air lift is really working on this one. It looks like it still runs pretty deep and has Way to wet of a ride. The motor is constantly being sprayed at speed. That can't be good for lonegevity. It sits too low for anything other than calm days on the lake. Just two guys on it really sets her low in the water. Even though it is a cat, it looks pretty unstable. Way too wide for its size. My 25 cat isnt even that wide and holds a lot more people and is stable as can be. And for its length and width, there is no real usable space, especially for a cat. It looks like the windsheild, top and cabin kind of look like a 20 year old runabout. Actually on closer look of pics, it looks like part of the upper bow of that old runabout is still on there. Overall it looks like it was a fun hobbyist thing to build, have lots of fun with it. But it will need some updating and a bit of work before it is ready for the next boat show. Maybe they should stick with tool and die making. Leave the boat building up to the boat builders. I am not saying that to be mean but if you make tools well, stick with it. After all, I am sure the professional tool makers out there would have lots to say if a boat manufacturer tried to make specialty tool and die.

  10. Don"t know if my vote can count since I did choose the same phrase, just a little late but I vote for ReelNauti and "Hold my beer.......Watch this"
  11. Thank you for your vote. However, Reelnauti had already posted the same one on post #8 so I will defer any votes for my submission to him as I failed to see his post when I posted. As much as I would love another shirt, mine would have to go to him. Good luck. I look forward to seeing the winner.
