  1. is it the same as this one? http://www.marineboatsupplies.com/revere-f...th-p-11487.html I would think that as long as it is a new item and the batteries have lots of time left on them, I would buy from anywhere. After all, it has factory support and waranty.
  2. My guess is he was lookin for dinner. I wonder how the wabbit made out
  3. So what exactly did you think the Stay-Puft Marshmellow man played with in the tub?
  4. Well maybe you can get it at 9/10 at 11:12
  5. We went to key West earlier this year and were told the same, wait till you get there to pick a boat. Glad we did. Everyones web site looked good but some were obviously old pictures and what was once new equipment was very well worn by the time we saw it. We walked the docks at two places and talked to a couple boat owners and looked at the boats and equipment. We actually had talked to some of the guys we saw web sites for. One in particullar was downright scary. The boat was now beat and he practically talked us into choosing someone else after trying his best drunken sales pitch. . We decided to go with one of the owners we spoke to. Nice guy, friendly, knowledgable and accomodating for 4 adults, one teen and one preteen. The down side was when we showed up for the trip, he wasn't the Captain for the day. It was one of his guides that was taking us out. we were definitly let down since we chose the charter based on the boat we saw and the owner we spoke to. Make sure you ask who your guide will be. Ours was OK but not real great. We caught fish and had a great time but felt like we got a little short changed as far as the captain goes. We wanted sails that day and he really never made much effort to put us on them. Went right to a wreck and we landed some great AJ's for dinner though. We got a good deal, had fun and overall was well worth it. So go in person and make your choice. Good luck and have a great trip
  6. Definitly a good idea. It gets more new boats on the water and puts some decent used boats on the market as well. It helps all around. I wonder how well it will work out for the dealer when all is said and done.
  7. Anyone heading down? The weather forcast is kind of crappy but I might run down for a look anyway.
  8. If I were the folks at AutoTether, I would be sending him a free one in exchange for his story and the video rights. Scary. Lucky no one else was drifting that area or worse swimming. makes me glad I have mine already.
  9. Glad to see they are home safe and sound but would love to hear the whole story from one of them.
  10. well it was a first for us. Pretty cool. Next time we will have camera ready
  11. I have used a product called Wenol in the past with good results. It is basically a polish that will eat up the oxidation(light oxidation only) and it shines real well. It also leaves a caoting that helps protect though I would add a good aluminum wax or protectant to it as well. Since it is tubing, it is real easy to use. Just put some on a rag and wrap it around and use a shoe polish kind of action on it. Pull it back and forth and it makes its own friction and polishing action. Will take no time at all. Ok maybe some time but not too bad.
  12. I agree with the auger, it will dig out any clogs. You can also try a pipe snake which can help break up the clog. Most hardware stores have them for rent. If it is a collapsed pipe, you may have to break through and slide a smaller pipe in to bridge the collapsed portion or worse case, dig it all up and lay new pipe. Sounds like that is not an option though since it is under the driveway. I had one collapse under the driveway and chose to re-route it under the lawn instead of digging the asphalt up.
  13. That's the one Thanks now I just have to get some rope and practice
  14. I kind of like the idea. It looks like it is pretty simple but how easy it is to raise and lower the transducer in and out of the water? It looks like you have it so the item bolts to a slide but what locks the slide in place and how is it raised and lowered? On a smaller skiff or just smaller boat in general it seems doable but Leaning that far over the back of some boats may be a challenge for some and a real PIA in general for a mid size or larger boat. If there is an easy way to raise and lower, then it will have a much broader customer interest.
  15. Didn't I see a web sight out there that had animated knots on it? I saw it once and liked it but never saved it on my computer.
  16. Welcome Aboard!!! enjoy the ride
  17. So me and the Mrs are out last week and catching a lot of nothing all day. Then we start landing what looked like thresher sharks. They were between 3 and 4 feet long each. 4 of them within a hour or so. Not big guys but fun to catch on light tackle, we were using 20lb line and small flounder hooks. The heaviest weighed in at only about 25 lbs but put up a nice fight on a light rod. Anywho, as we were thinking about heading in, the Mrs. drops down a flounder rig and soon enough, the line starts tearing off the reel. She said she had another "thresher" so she went to town letting it run and drawing it in like the last few. As we see it break the surface a few yards away, she says it looked like a hammerhead, then it dives deep again. It took her about 15 minutes to get it in overall since she was working it real easy on light line but we got it to the side of the boat and sure enough, it was a hammer head. While deciding how to bring it on board or if we should even try, we eyed it up using spots on the boat and figure about 4'-5' long. Weight, no idea. It ended up biting through the monifiliment line and off he went. Probably better off for us as I have never dealt with a hammerhead and would be tossing him back anyway. I never heard of hammerheads off of New Jersey before. We were both shocked. Even more so when you consider were we less than a half mile off the Avalon beach. Are these common around here?
  18. Find an insirance company that offers a "declared value" or "replacement value" policy. I have had policies like that on cars and bikes before where you tell them the value and that is what it is insured for. Of course you need to prove it is worth that much but receipts and work records and photos take care of that. It does get prorated as the years go by but its better than book. It is not cheap either. I have Allstate and for the first 3 years I am covered to replacement value. I hope to never have to find out if it is accurate or not.
  19. Nice Fish! I had the pleasure of catching my first AJ a couple months ago while on a trip to Key West. It was only about 30 lbs but felt like I was reeling in a dump truck. Made for a good dinner for us too.
  20. Try Grahams Marine Canvas. 609.624.7979 I had him do a mooring cover for my cat and the price was great and the end product and service was great as well. Even ran back to make a change I asked for after the fact and only charged me materials. Talk to Tom Graham. Tell him John with the World Cat in Sea Isle sent you. Grahams Marine Canvas WebSite
  21. Actually it doesn't sound like an Autotether would have helped, though they are awesome, I won't head out with out mine. The boat was found with engines idling so if he fell overboard the boat would not really be motoring away from him. To me its more of a case of not being physically capable of climbing back on board. Maybe he had a heart attack or something, or slipped and tumbled over and maybe he simply had no ladder in place to get back in the boat. I know climbing up an outboard motor with wet slippery hands can be pretty tough, especially for a 67 year old guy. Impossible if no outboard or outdrives or anything to grab on to. Lessons learned: Autotether or lanyard always and have a ladder in place just in case. I also have a waterproof vhf and inflatable vest on my person when out alone. Though at that distance you would have to be lucky enough to get another boat within range for a handheld radio to be of any use. Oh yeah, and don't pee over the side in rough water! I think I read once something along the lines of that most guys that drown after falling overboard are found with their fly down.
  22. That's kind of what i figured but it never hurts to ask. Thanks for the replys folks!
  23. Maybe an air pocket and was losing its prime?
  24. Nice Job! Nice Fish! Maybe there is something to screaming like a little girl. A budy of mine did the same thing when he was fighting his first sail. Hopefully there are many more sails to make their way to the Reel-Fin-Addict
