  1. I had the choice between suzuki and honda. I chose the Honda for the warranty (5 year, from Honda, non-declining). The suzuki came with a 6 year (3 from Suzuki, 3 aftermarket). Honda also had great financing terms (6.99%). Weight between the honda and suzuki was minimal. The Suzuki weighs in at 474 for the L and 485 for the X. Honda is at 478 for the L and 485 for the X.

  2. I would look at Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, Stuart area. All are within about 45 minutes of Palm Beach airport and 1.5 hours to Orlando. Gulfstream runs close, and prices are great right now in that area. Palm Beach County, a little more but a faster paced lifestyle than the Treasure coast. Are you looking for single family or condo? Might get some great deals on Hutchinson Island right now.

    check out this website http://www.waterfront-properties.com/

I did a quick MLS search and found a bunch in your price range. I don't work for them and have never used them, but they seem to be pretty popular down here. You can enter your critera on their site such as Ocean Access, No fixed bridges, deep water, etc.

  3. Has anyone been to this by boat? Looking to go this year and anchor in the ICW near the North stage at Flagler and Lakeview. May possibly use the city docks if space permits, but think I would rather just anchor. I checked the USCG Notice to Mariners and don't see anything listed as far as being closed, but does anyone know what areas will be closed? Is it west of the channel near the Royal Ponciana where the fireworks are shot off? I'm not concerned about traffic as I have a transient slip reserved for the 3rd and 4th at Lake Park Marina just a few miles away. I plan on being on the the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th and didn't want to fight at the ramp each day.

Anyway - any tips or advice would be appreciated.

  4. Like I told the landscape crew I used to work with in Indiana, "I'm from Texas. I'll let you know when it gets hot." Well, I'm here to say that today was rather warm down here in sunny S FL! I don't have an official temp, but the thermometer on my truck read 100 even at 11:30 am here in Jupiter Farms.

My outdoor thermometer was reading a little over 100 today also. Just a little bit east of the Farms near Abacoa. Hottest day I remember in a while!

  5. So I took my boat to the Honda dealer last week to have the port motor checked out due to the check engine light coming on. After looking through everything, looks like the fuel hose was the wrong size. There was a 3/8 coming from the water seperator to the bulb. Bulb is a 5/16 and the line from the bulb was a 5/16. The dealer that I purchased from had it rigged that way. They had tried to clamp the 3/8 hose to the 5/16 bulb, which caused a small leak just before the bulb. Can someone tell me why this would cause the engine to knock? BTW - I had them change the lines on both the port and starboard engine.

  6. I snapped this photo a couple of years ago on an early sword run about 15 miles off FLL. Anybody know what type this one is? I was pretty much out of sight of land and feeling pretty inferior to this guy. I chose not to approach . . .

From the flat section behind the sail, it appears to be a ballistic missile sub (boomer). The flat section is the missile tubes.

  7. No. The original dealer is in Dania Beach FL - about 60 miles away from me and with a drive though West Palm and Ft. Lauderdale on 95. I'd much rather take US1 20 miles to Stuart. The original dealer still hasn't returned my call. So much for service after the sale. Guess I know where I'll be taking my boat from now on...

  8. Took to a honda dealer in Stuart FL today who checked it out for me. Ran some diagnostics and believes it to be loose connections from the set up. They were getting a knock sensor and a second alarm. After tightenting the connections, they could not get it to repeat. Taking the boat out Friday - so we'll see!!

  9. I didn't lose any power, but I shut the engine down and restarted. There is an audible alarm at one second intervals. I have twin engines and the indicator is on the lower right hand corner of the ingintion switch. I believe that it is a red light. It is the light that is right beside the picture of an engine block. The manual states that it is a PGM-FI malfunction but doesn't go into any more detail. Rather than risk damage to the engine, I shut it down and restarted. It would run fine until I went over 3K RPM then it would come back on. I've got a call into the dealer, but the honda mechanic was off today (go figure). I have been unable to find anything else in the manual covering this light. From what I could find online, it may be a bad 02 sensor. Kind of sucks as this is a brand new motor in it's break in period.

  10. Picked up my new boat yesterday and ran it for the 1st time today. Following the break in procedures, everything was fine until I brought the port engine over 3000 RPM. PGM-FI light came on. Looking in the manual this is an EFI light, not a check engine as the dealer has stated. Planning on taking back to the dealer this week, but does anyone have any ideas?

  11. Picked up my new boat late yesterday. Was supposed to take delivery at 3:30, but it didn't happen until 7:30. All was good except for a check engine light on the port engine. Details to be posted in an different thread. The boat is a Seafox 256 WA with twin Honda 150's. Builder also left off additional bilge pumps requested. Delivery was also originally scheduled for 5/10 but kept getting delayed due to light work schedules at the factory. More details to follow.

  12. I've been diving and boating for close to 20 years. I would never leave the boat unattended. This is just plain stupid! Had a scare once in Cozumel when on a night dive, my buddy and I got seperated from the boat. This was a drift dive and they had stopped to pick up other divers. Guide but no float ball. Just like boating, we had redundant systems with backup lights, safety sausage, whistle's, etc.. but still a scary feeling.

  13. Good post..at least let us know how your experience goes with your new rig. It would be good to have a post on all aspects..the dealer delivery, the boat makers response to warranty issues if needed and so on.

We are supposed to start a BBB forum that acknowledges those in the business that give us good service. But it seems as if we are reluctant to say much about the bad guys. A lot of that is carried over from all the bashing that went on over at THaT place....and that did get old in a hurry. Still, I know who not to buy a used outboard from because of some of that.... ;)

That's why I'm scared to mention the brand!! LOL. Dealer so far has been pretty good. I was supposed to take delivery on 5/10, but it's pushed back due to production schedules. I can understand that with the economy. Dealer has also offered me use of their floor model of the same boat for the upcoming weekend as I have already sold my previous boat. I'll put a post up when I take delivery.

  14. I don't want to start any brand bashing, but still would be interested to know the builders, makes, sizes and years of the boats that you surveyed. Again - not to start any brand bashing. I'm waiting on my new boat to be delivered in the next few weeks and I'm almost scared to metion what type for fear of getting beat up over it...
