  1. http://www.consumersmarine.com/ I've used them in the past and been real pleased they also price match anyone.
  2. Yeah that was my idea too. Figured I'd ask everyone else before I started cutting and running wires.
  3. When I was going through the application process seaschool gave me a simple form to have filled out that said, "I do hereby certify that candidate listed below is of sterling character and capable and able to operate as a USCG Captain." I can't remember if that was the exact wording or not but it was along those lines nothing elaborate then the person just signed and dated.
  4. Alright got a conundrum here that my fried brain cells have yet to find a solution to. I've got a parker 2520xl its a sport cabin. I have a acr remote spot light mounted on top of the cabin which is great until you need to use it. Problem is with all the chrome railing on the bow the spot light reflects back and blinds you at night making it completely useless. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if anyone had found a good solution to it other than mine of just not using the spot light?
  5. Shoot now that i think about it I dont remember my pin either, hmmmmm hope no one ever ask to see it.
  6. I love giving it to people when they ask for an id, then again I am an ######. TWIC or as I like to call it the, I'm Not a Terrorist Card. Another great $132 contribution to lockheed.
  7. Without a doubt my second favorite show on TV (if you don't watch Rescue Me...START).
  8. I have a simrad on my parker and the 2 dive boats I work on. I the ones at work are ap-10's and the one on the parker is an ap-25 all use the gryro compass which is great when it doesnt have any metal near it. Tool boxes really screw with it fyi. I really like the simrads though they are reliable for me and really user friendly. I have worked with their tech support in the past too who were great. Simrad is all I've used but I've been real happy with them.
  9. We went offshore out of Morehead on March 3rd to the Big Rock. It was a little hairy 6-8 foot seas on the way in, freezing spray covering the boat, there was an inch of snow on the ground that morning and schools were delayed, I had never seen fog that thick. We did get a 36 pound black fin, another decent black fin, a nice wahoo and a good yellowfin all in all a great day on the water.

  11. Automated external defibrillator, basically the thing they use to shock your heart back into a rhythm after a heart attack.
  12. I'm going to guess at the most likely emergencies to have on the water are: 1. Heart Attack: CPR along with aspirin can help but without AED and definitive medical care odds are against you. 2. Dehydration/Heat Exhaustion/Heat Stroke: Easier to prevent than treat, stay hydrated avoid over exertion on hot days. 3. Burns: Treat with cold water and cover get to medical attention. 4. Hemorrhage: Control bleeding as best as possible get medical care. 5. Drowning: Pretty much the same as the first, without an AED all you can do is CPR and try and get to medical attention. 6. Allergic Reaction/Anaphylaxis: Epinephrine, antihistamines Basically what you will really need in a first aid kit besides the normal Band-Aids and such is: A good pocket mask for effective CPR Aspirin for stopping a heart attack Bottled Water/Electrolytes Bandages for stopping bleeding covering burns etc. Benedryl Oral Glucose If you can get your hands on it and epi-pen or 2 wouldn't be bad to have aboard especially if you have known allergic reactions AED: This may be your best chance at getting you home alive, CPR is effective but an AED can get your heart beating again. If you are say 3 hours from the nearest hospital and you don't have an AED, when you have a heart attack you probably won't make it home even with the best CPR in the world. I would argue and AED is a better investment than an EPIRB on a boat. The odds of capsizing or sinking are far less than the odds of either you or someone else aboard having a heart attack. Even the best first aid kit isn't worth a damn if you don't know what to do. The american heart association and american red cross both offer great cpr and first aid courses. They are well worth the 3 or 4 nights.
  13. 20 miles west of Raleigh's ditches There's a place called hell Where 10 thousand sons of ###### Call it chapel hill Where they're ###### born And they're ###### bred And when they're die They'll be ###### dead So piss on carolina-lina Piss on carolina-lina Piss on carolina-lina Piss on carolina-lina GO TO HELL DUKE Waaaaakeeeee Forrrresssttt Suuucccckkkksss
