  1. Does it matter? Its a kids fishing derby. Pull your panties out of a knot and be glad that there is a little girl who will probably be hooked on the sport for the rest of her life.
  2. Okay cool. Actually one of the days, if I go offshore, the wife will want the car so separating it from the trailer is fine by me :-) The place we're renting has enough parking, so I'm leaving her on the trailer. It's 4th of july weekend, I think we'll be there the 1st-6th. Hoping to spend friday with the family on the boat, might try to get offshore thursday the 2nd and sunday the 5th.
  3. Oh sweet baby zombie jesus. I thought this wasn't THT where people nitpick every little ###### thing. So what if the dad helped a little? Ever help your kid reel in a bluegill? You still told your friends he caught the ###### thing.
  4. Couple questions, We found a rental off Bridges in Morehead. Will be doing some family fishing and cruising in the sound, and maybe run offshore weather permitting one day. Where should I launch out of Morehead? Boat is a 23' WA. Second, where should I get bait in Morehead? If I run offshore, I'd like to get some prerigged 'hoos. I'll order off the internet if I need to, but would like to support local shops if I can.
  5. As long as she's not being credited with an IGFA record, what's the harm in crediting her with the catch, even with daddy's help?
  6. Nasty. We found a bloated dead turtle last summer in the bay. Wasn't holding any cobes, though.
  7. Especially given his idiotic insistence of not boarding the first boat on scene. That's the most perplexing part of the whole thing.
  8. Life savings on a 25' boat? Explains the current economy nicely. What were the conditions like?
  9. Yo! I'm Jason, own a 23' Trophy WA "Sugar Mama". I'm in Woodbridge on the Potomac, but I mostly fish out of Hampton or VA Beach. Haven't wandered into the mid bay yet. Play on the Potomac with the wife and kids some.
  10. First, thanks Wiley for showing us some love here in the mid atlantic. Where else can you catch striper in December in 40* water, or Cobia in July in 80* water? Speaking of which, the cobia bite is off the hook right now! Anyone getting in on that action? I was down last weekend and couldn't buy a bite, but the reports are sick right now, including a 104lb pig.
  11. Word. Up the road from you in Virginia, mostly fish the Chesapeake. Welcome to the board.
  12. Go to the tackle shop and buy a cheap downrigger ball. Stick it in your chum bag, and that will sink it to the bottom. I chum alot, nothing to be freaked out about, its an easy enough thing. Stick the frozen chum in either a bucket with a bunch of holes drilled in it, or in a mesh chum bag. As it thaws, shake it every 5-10 minutes to release the chum.
  13. We discovered that when they ran the unit, they ziptied the cables together and ran them as a bundle. So for me to pull the cut ducer cable back through, it would have all gotten jammed on the zip tie points. As it was we had to cut the old cable and pull it out. Fished a couple days this weekend. New ducer works like a champ. Great bottom picture, sees fish, works at high speed, low speed and in deep water.
  14. Reports from TF are that the Cobia are in! I'll be down in the bay saturday, sunday and monday chasing cobia, reds and anything else that bites. Anyone doing any good for striper around the CBBT??
  15. You can't see mine. Its a disaster, just ask kingair.
  16. Thanks for the scoop, guys! I'm stoked and will be looking to get some big hookups (aren't we all?) Are cobia around down there in July? Inside the inlet/sound?
  17. Well that was sporty. We went to run the electrician's fish tape up the rigging tube and it got stuck. Took us what, an hour to figure that out and only 10 minutes to actually run the damn cable? Thanks again man!
  18. New one should be here this afternoon. Evil Spawn number one has Karate from 1800-1830, installing it after that. Interested in swinging by having a beer and giving a brother a hand?
  19. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/marine_map.htm NOAA marine forcasts. http://www.saltwatertides.com/pickpred.html Tide charts, you can input a day and time and place to get the results you need to plan your outings, too.
  20. Okay trip is set now, going to spend a couple days in Morehead. Taking the boat and planning on one day offshore weather permitting. Whats the scoop? I got some basics earlier, but I'd like to get some more info if anyone has it. Mahi 10-20 miles out, is that right? any wrecks or towers to find AJ and or Cobia on that I should check out? Also, any good sources for an inshore and offshore chart for that area?
  21. Okay we found a place in Morehead. Nice place, boat parking and a fenced yard. Perfect spot for us to operate :-) Thanks for the info on your place it looks damn nice and looks like you run a good operation there. Anyone in the area that may be interested in HO'ing? Looking to head offshore one day and maybe catch Mahi....
  22. I'll call you today. BPS fooked me and it won't be here till tomorrow.
  23. Looking for a lead on a rental for the Beaufort or Morehead area for about 5 nights over July 4th weekend. Can't stay an entire week and that's making it harder to find a place. 2-3 bedrooms, with a boat slip/dock or enough parking for a boat on a trailer. Boat is a 23'. Any good leads appreciated
  24. Dfree, nothing to be ashamed of, looks like a great boat to me!
