  1. I'm looking at getting two new props for my Yamaha F115's. My local shop is out of stock, and will be for a while, so I'm looking for an online source. Got any recommendations for buying Solas or Yamaha-brand aluminum props?

I just bought a pair PowerTech 4 bladed props from Shipyard Island Marine. The guys at Power tech knew what I needed. My twin F115;s run much better now, it was worth every penny.

  2. http://www.tradeonlytoday.com/home/506271-southport-boats-halts-operations-will-be-sold

Southport Boats suspended operations pending a sale of the company's assets by American Global Yacht Group, which purchased Southport's assets last June.

Operations were suspended last week, Southport's former CEO, Frank Longino, told Soundings Trade Only this morning. About 15 employees will be affected by the suspension, he said.

"AGYG originally purchased Southport as part of a strategic plan to purchase and manufacture Southport Boats, as well as other boat brands, and market those brands through AGYG boat and yacht sales locations," the company said in a statement.

"Subsequent to the Southport purchase, however, AGYG exited the boat sales and brokerage business and closed all their locations, leaving Southport's boat manufacturing operation the only AGYG operating subsidiary," the company added.

The sale includes all assets of the company, the trade name and records, and can be completed with or without the lease on Southport's 52,000-square-foot facility in Leland, N.C.

"Southport remains a strong brand, with over 400 units in the field and an involved, supportive customer base," Longino said. "We anticipate a quick and orderly sales process. There's been quite a lot of interest."

  3. If you are looking at something that is being sold by National Liquidators be prepared for the run around. Many people try to get serious with them and they are hard to deal with apparently, I vaguely was considering a bid on a boat they had a few years ago but decided against it after reading about numerous people having gotten fed up with them.

  4. I am sure in a 23 foot situation we are talking outboards and not diesel engines, totally different animal so Sig is not in question.

As far as filters, whether you have a single or twins you should be carrying spares? Again, after one time of being stranded with weather moving in your opinion might change... Good Luck all

  5. If you are worried what little bit extra you might be spending in gas in a twin versus single situation maybe offshore boating is not the right sport... #1 concern on my boat is safety and twin engines are just that a safety feature. While I agree most new engines are more reliable than older, plenty of things can happen other than gas and spun prop to stop an engine.... The other thing to remember is that the bad gas situation will show itself much earlier than when you get 30+ miles offshore fishing...

  6. The first time you get caught out 20 miles plus with a broke boat you will wish you had twins...... For 3 years now I have owned my first twin engined boat. It really helps put me at ease being I run out 40 + miles.

I have a sailfish 2360 with twins and have very little I can say negative about the boat. It really is a very good ride and easily converts to a family cruiser. Good Luck

  7. Well I traded a minn kota powerdrive with copilot for a set of lenco tolling tabs everything included but the tab control. I ordered the tab control off ebay & relised it was just the switch. called lenco to see what part I need to order & they had one & took care of me great customer service. I should have them installed by next weekend ready to fish.

I have used Lenco in the past and had great service also...It was a warranty issue

  8. Here is one reason. In talking with the owners of Chaos earlier this year, they told me RMS has nothing to do with their theft. Only on THT, and now here on RB does this rumor continue to live. Who knows what happened with RMS.

You dont get arrested for rumors and it was not the Choas incident it was something about lights of some kind... But the case was dropped..

  9. "Notice that the Pentagon bans fuel and oil additives for US Military engines...

If one of those proprietary additives could give a tank or a hummer even a few % increase in service life, the Pentagon would absolutely require its use.. They ban additives instead... Draw your own conclusions..."

    denny-o

The gov't over builds many of the machines used for war.. I can see them having a much better engine made out stronger components ad designed for some lack of maintenance. Another problem could be just what you said "additives could give a tank or a hummer " an M-1 Abrams tank has a jet engine, not your average V-8... Just a thought..I am no chemist, in fact, Organic chemistry SUCKED in college..

  10. I use Stabil...It is both a fuel stabilizer and de carbing agent. I keep my ethanol tank about 1/3 full most of the time and I always add frsh fuel when I take it out... I have never had a problem. Personally, I think some of the additives help retard fuel degradation. I like Sea Foam (although it has alcohol in it), Sta Bil, Pri-G and all the outboard manufacturers de carb solutions... Anything else I am suspicious of, as to its performance..

  11. WHile its a little out of the way, I have to agree with Boz. We love the Indian Rcoks beach area (south of Clearwater). We always have a good time there... If you need any advice about St. Auggie let me know.....Also it is kind of like South Georgia here (weather wise) in January and get down right nippy at times depending on the fronts (just FYI)
