  1. Try "View new posts" at top of page.
  2. If you can't fnd a hand-held to your liking you could make up a "suit-case" system. I'd recomend a battery similiar to this in case there isn't a power port available. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...rset=ISO-8859-1 You can get similiar batteries from many sources including a local battery shop. They are very reliable and are often used for backup power on security systems. I've used one for a fish-finder, and later as a power pack, for years. Water-proof cases are available in a variety of sizes and shapes so that should be no-problem. Your selection of GPS need not be limited to internal antennae either since there would be a variety of mounting options available for quick attachment to/in the case or a spot convenient to the helm. Good luck!
  3. I'm not sure but I may have seen that in action last Monday. I495 southbound, just before rt3 in Lowell Mass. Good sized black Dodge pickup up against the Jersey barrier. It looked like some kind of rod underneath with one end attached somehwhere under the engine and a loose end dangling towards the left front tire. If that's what could be your problem I would drive slowly or have it brought in on a flat-bed. Good luck!
  4. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology...ws/4324010.html This article has reviews of 3 units being advertised as waterproof. I have the G Z One through Verizon. I've held it under water several times. The problem wiht the current generation is they aren't sealed to withstand any kind of pressure and pushing the buttons can cause leakage. These are problems for engineers. Soon there will be mil-spec grade phones for those who want or need them. Each generation of tech is just a teaser for things to come.
  5. Cellular "GPS" fixes off the towers not the satelites. It's only required to be accurate to 100 yards. Someday I expect all "mobile" phones will use satelites so the service will be available over a much larger portion of the globe, if not all of it. At that time their "GPS" accuracy will probably be closer to "real GPS" so they can sell navigational apps to people who would be interested in them. Don't put your chart plotter on Craigslist yet!
  6. Except for the heavy equipment, I've been there a few times. I've learned to walk the job first to watch for hazards including "wild-life." Once you've disturbed a nest you need to let it settle for an hour or so then come back and hit it with spray. Good luck!
  7. Just waiting for the wet T-Shirt contest...
  8. This is known as a "red herring." I knew there was something "fishy" here.
  9. Suggestion... If/when you get up and running with merchandise, how about fake tattos with your logo? I'm sure this would be a nice item for the "children" in the RB family.
  10. Drive-on/drive-off? http://reelboating.com/forums/index.php?sh...ic=2293&hl= lol - - - You should be familiar with both techniques. Retrieving in a current you will probably want to use power so your boat doesn't drift. Calm water (especially shallow ramps) then use the winch to be kind to the infra-structure. Good luck!
  11. I don't mean to sound 'flip' but have you checked the tension lock? If this is new to you, there is frequently a small knob, in an out of the way spot, on the remote controller. This adds friction to the throttle mechanism allowing you to adjust the resistance to your personal preference. It's possible a young passenger may have been "exploring" and changed the setting. It's a simple thing to overlook so don't feel bad if this is the problem. I've seen/heard this question before and about half the time this was the problem. Good luck!
  12. I have one. I left it in a pocket for a few days and now I need to replace the batteries. lol.
  13. This may not be that great a handi-cap. Since the work will be on the boats it won't matter if you go to the job or the job goes to you. Except if it's at a marina that doesn't allow outside technicians.
  14. I guess no one here has seen anyone so specialised. You might be the Alpha test. Good luck!
  15. I'm glad they want to get on board with you again. Keep up the good work! Warmest regards to "Wet."
  16. Remember, can't have an RB wet T-shirt contest without RB T-shirts!
  17. Try to join an adoption support group. They may be able to steer you to a legit adoption agency. They can also tell you the human side like what hotel in Bazerbaijan is a flea pit. Good luck!
  18. I've seen this question on other boards and the answer was yes. Try to allow plenty of space in the conduit to simplify future changes in your wiring needs. Leave a snake line in there so you won't have that to deal with if you add additonal cables. If/when you get a picture maybe somebody with first-hand experience can give you more tips. LED lights generally get positive reviews. Good luck!
  19. If they are Mercury or Yamaha brand tanks you might be able to get replacement lids. They were about $15 when I bought a couple several years back. I think I got the last two in New Hampshire because I went to 3 or 4 local places before I found them. Good luck!
  20. If the hull and other systems are good or fixable within your comfort level I'd say do a repower. If you get a new boat you will spend the next few years tinkering with, and accesorizing it until you are comfortable again. Good luck!
  21. Once he gets set up, maybe Wiley will let him do a fund-raiser. Since this is a Federal Mandate/Initiative, a precedent has to be set somewhere. Good luck!
  22. Less likely... Check the tension from your throttle cable. It might be pulling even though the adjuster at the motor is as far as it will go. I've fiddled with a variety of small motors and on some this would be readily apparent and on others it isn't. On the few o/b motors I've worked on this would be apparent which is why I think it's a long shot. Good luck!
