  1. Hey Island Time I have the Triton 2895 in inside rack. You have a great boat! I love Rex! Tom Brown
  2. I put a set of General Grabber HTS on my Avalanche. I could not be happier. I have been in deep snow, mud, and long distance highway. I love the tires. If you go to the Tire Rack web site and look at the reviews this one gets raves. Consumers Reports also listed it last month as a Best Buy.
  3. I keep a pair in my race kit. If I'm driving a coupe I use them with the visor up. I think they are great. I probably have 7 pair of boat shades and they are top shelf there as well.
  4. NYBS 26' Sailfish about $73m out the door, 2x150hp. They sold a lot of them.
  5. Here is what I found out: Saturday was the busiest day in memory. 20,000 gate vs 15,000 previous years. There were serious, qualified buyes all over the place. The place was jumping right until the Sunday close. I was told that the various BC brands sold 61 boats at the show. My friends in other brands had sales and more importantly, serious interest from qualified buyers. The dealers walked away smiling.
  6. I just came back. It was very empty. The sq. footage is 25% less than last year and a lot of "names" are missing. That being said. everyone was helpful and willing to give of their time if not cheerful. Kudos to Regulator, Pursuit, Cobalt, and Grady White for turning out in force.
  7. between the crazy lady and the Pope and this I would opine that we had a very Merry Christmas! Bless us all..
  8. I promise to wear it at only the finest and most exclusive dives and juke joints.
  9. Not looking good. I am on my way to Wickford, RI. We are supposed to go out with a guide Sat, am but I think it's a sleep in morning. A shame as I really wanted to go "out front".
  10. I think I'm in. It has been several years.
  11. Go to Tirerack.com & look at the reviews of the General Grabber
  12. They are hurting and under considerable financial strain. They were an LBO and the cash flow can't keep up with the debt payments in this economy. They aren't the only one but the consumer always gets the short end.
  13. I assume BC will also take a hit as they "loaned" the money to Fountain to buy Baja. I assume Reggie flushes the toilet on the debt, buys the name(if he doesen't own it outright already) and waits for a better economy to re start the company. He may be a PIA but he is smart and shrewed.
  14. Bumping CT! Where is everyone? Was in Milford, Bgpt, Lloyd's Harbor and am off to Sag Harbor, Newport & Block. Where are all the CT guys?
  15. The first time I see some 16 yr old kid get a ticket I call the ACLU. Most of the professionale I have spoken to have no interest in enforcing this tax.
  16. I went with Sea Tow. Boat US was $400 more. I was surprisedat that. Sea Tow is underwritten by AIG but the insurance subsidiary is financially isolated from the holding company.
  17. We need to do one in CT to get a permit. I was grandfathered but threw out the paperwork and had to go back to school. Not such a bad thing-there is always something to explore. I was fortunate to work in NYC. They Hayden Planetarium offers some amazing courses. I took piloting I & II and Celestial I. Real fun with a sextant in the planetarium and big boat captain as an instructor. I was a big sailor and all these courses were more than useful. What amazes me is how much I forget if I lay off. My 2 cents is that operators should re-qualify every 5 years.
  18. I asked them at the NYBS wether the arrangement allowed for sufficient cooling accross the engines. That is a load of turbulance. He actually got a bit miffed and didn't directly answer the question. I like their boats but not this one.
  19. Norwalk, CT reporting in. The covers are all coming off and there have been a few "flounder wakers" sighted.
  20. I have one. If I am toodling around LI Sound I leave it home. If I go anywhere serious I carry it.
  21. Killington closes April 19. No boating for me until May.
