  2. There are strings attached. They want it to be used as a museum or educational facility. Plus you have to show that you have the money to restore it.Sort of like when the govt sells off a lighthouse.

  4. Years ago, I spent several summers working there.The Gardellas owned both places back then. They probably still do.
  5. I was out in Oyster Bay (NY) over the weekend and took these shots of the Christeen, which is an 1883 restored oyster boat. According to the Waterfront Center which owns it, it is the oldest oyster sloop in North America. http://soundbounder.blogspot.com/2009/04/o...-christeen.html

  10. Spent my youth around Norwalk. Worked at Cove and Rex Marinas every summer.In the past decade I was in City Island for about 8 years. I have moved though, and am now up near Mystic, for the past 2 years.
  11. That is pretty much a dated stereotype from 30-40 years ago.Sure there is still wok to be done, but the harbor is significantly cleaner than it was when I was a kid. In the past 20 years or so, a lot of marine life has returned to the rivers and harbor.

  14. IIRC, Viking shut down briefly during the 1991 recession, then opened up again.You probably know the story better than I do.
