Probably so....and if you replace the sand with expanding foam so it surrounds the pole, it should add to the rigidity by keeping the pole captured within the PVC.

If ease of removal is important to you, you could use 4200....it seals well, but the holding strength is about 1/2 that of 5200.

I always figured that I'd connect the raw water washdown hose to there if that ever happened....Definitely a stroke of genius if you don't have one or it's too far away, though.

Chris- That's a good idea- my livewell holds a bunch more water than I usually need also (the same as yours) Where is your water inlet? Mine is just below "full"....do you let it spray on the water surface from above when you're running at the lower water level, or did you also pipe that down to the lower level?

Great thread! One tip I'll offer: If your first aid kit is in a zippered bag, make sure you open it now & then whether you need it or not, and lube that zipper! Any guesses how I know?
