  1. took a full day power squad course when I was 14, along with my brother who was at the time 11, and my father. This was at the time of him purchasing a jet ski for the family. The class was geared completely toward safety, as well as basic do's and don'ts on the water, as well as essential navigation skills for lake & inland boating. Fortunately I had been on the water my entire life prior to that and was fairly comfortable with everything, which made the class even more valuable.
  2. Working on getting the garrage at my new house organized, and saw this system at home depot. Seems to be pretty decent quality for light weight storage and hanging a few tools. I'm not really interested in the shelves & baskets, but do like the idea of movable hooks for storing items like the trimmer & blower, ladders, and other such items.
  3. Ralph, glad to see you payed attention to my "how to make your own report card" class.
  4. This also works very well as long as the orings have not been soaked in oil for shipping. Super glue won't harm the rubber of most orings, or so I've been told.
  5. those odd shaped o-rings are a pain. I usually just put a really thin coat of silicon on the cup, and put he o-ring in it and let it set up before installing. Done that several times on my OMC as well as my brothers & parents 2 yamaha's with no problems.
  6. I love my maui's for driving and on the water, but still wear my 5 year old CDM tripple tails for daily use, they just have a toughness factor that I havent seen matched from Maui.
  7. I just purchased a new house, and need to ###### out the garage. Currently it is completely empty with the exception of a nicely built work bench in one corner. The work bench is very well made, and has a pegboard pannel behind it for storing small tools. Under it is split, the left side has 2 shelves large enough to hold a good many power tools, and the right side is left open, and is the perfect size for a mini fridge (already installed, and stocked). There was some small amounts of wire shelving left from the previous owner that I removed, and I am having the entire thing painted, and the bad spots in the drywall repaired. What I would like to do is to add some cabinets or shelves down one side of the garage for storage, and possibly some overhead storage on a pully system. Any thoughts or pics would be appriciated.
  8. my question here, with mention above of the feds removing a battery or other similar equipment in order to access part of the boat to do an inspection, does that not step over the line as far as interfearing with safe operation of the boat. what if that battery is the only thing allowing you to start the boat. to me it is very unsafe to have a disabled boat at sea for any reason. Also, what if it was running a bait pump, are they legally allowed to kill your tank of bait just to check your bildge?
  9. have you investigated your companies policy on drug testing following a trip to a place where such activities are legal?
  10. for me the biggest factor was when he had done quite a bit of research and figured out who and where my fiancé was, and shared with me that he knew this information. Even though things are now cleared up, I am having my lawyer draft a letter to him requesting a written apology addressed to myself and my employer clearing me from the situation. The letter is also going to state that if this does not occur, a civil charge will follow shortly there after. My biggest fear, even though my fiancé is aware of the situation is that he may have or may in the future contact someone from the small town where she resides and trash my name, with it being a little over a month from today until our wedding, the last thing I can afford to happen is to have my name smeared in her community. The idea of it being someone at work using my name is something that I definitely consider an option, but at the same time, I really thing is a relative long shot, I work in small shop and everyone there is relatively close, and nobody is even so much as acting funny, and they are all more than aware of what is going on.
  11. good update......evidently the wife heard my voice on the answering machine, and confirmed to him that I was in fact not the guy. Her husband then called me up and appoligized to me, which will hopefully be the end of the entire thing.
  12. the plot thickens a bit. A sales rep from another location did some lift training for some of these people's crew recently. This morning, he went by their office (at their house) to deliver their certification cards, not knowing anything about the situation. The guy came outside fighting mad thinking that it was me pulling up at his house, and realizing it wasn't me wanted to know what they were doing there. He then proceeded to tell them his side of the story, and that his wife had confirmed that it was me that she was having an affair with. After this, I called their business line from my place of work, and left a message that I needed them to call me back. When he did, he accused me outright of lying to him, emphasizing that his wife had named me specifically as the guy. I informed him that I have been in contact with my attorney, as well as the local sheriffs department, and have civil suit of libel planned if any further contact is made to myself, my family, coworkers, fiancé, or future in-laws. I am documenting all of this, along with times and places, and will have my lawyer send him a certified letter early next week when he returns to the office.
  13. what do you all think of sending him a certified letter stating that if any further contact occurs on the matter I will consider it harassment and will press charges? It would be very inexpensive to do, and would at least serve as a bit of documentation.
  14. He already had one of my cell numbers, my work one that is on all of my business cards. My fiance was one of the first people I called and told about all of this, and luckily gave me no flack over it at all.
  15. got do doing a bit more research on the whole thing, and found out that the guy is a bit more local than I though, and that his wife, as well as he have actually done some business with my office in the past under their business's name. Their most recent transaction was with another rep out of my location, having some guys trained on lift equipment...... I looked into doing the restraining order thing, but that involves a court hearing, with both parties there, and has a pretty significant burden of proof. Hopefully the whole thing will blow over and I won't hear anything else out of him, in the meantime I am being more vigilant than normal, and have taken a few precautions.
  16. Everyone I work with knows of the situation, the first person I contacted after this happened was my old boss at my previous location, just to find out if someone else in our industry in that area happened to share my name. The guy was absolutely positive about my first name, and that the guilty party was in the heavy equipment business in Columbia.
  17. Had an interesting one happen to me today. A guy who appeared to be a customer came into the showroom at work and asked for me. I told him that I was in fact me, to which he replied that he would like to look at a few things out on the yard, which isn't out of the ordinary at all. Once we got outside, he confronted me, saying, "your answer will determine how you walk out of here today." I was basically like WTF are you talking about. He went on to confirm who I was, and if I had worked at another location for the came company that I am with currently elsewhere in the state. I confirmed all of this. He then asked me if I knew a particular woman, to which I replied I didn't. He went on and on asking if I was sure if I did or did not know her. Finally, he got down the just of it all, and pretty much said he was nearly positive that I was the guy that was running around with his wife. He appeared to still not be convinced, and wanted me to raise my hand and swear before him about all of this, and also wanted my address and cell #, to which I told him in a nice way that he could go pound sand. Just curious, but at this point do I have legal ground to put a restraining order out against this guy? He basically drove 100 miles to beat my a$$, on a mistaken identity, not to mention at my place of work. I'm not overly scared of the guy by any means, but at the same time anyone willing to drive that far to confront someone on pieced together, incorrect information may not be bringing a full plate to the table.
  18. Just went through this process myself. Everything RI mentioned above is spot on, and I'll add a few more things. In my situation, I did all of the applications solo simply because my fiancé does not yet live in the area of the house we bought, and speaking to several mortgage brokers & bankers, if you don't absolutely need to show her income, why bother with the additional paperwork. Additionally, depending on the area where you are looking to purchase, you may qualify for a USDA rural development backed loan. The biggest plus side on this type of loan is that there is no down payment requirement, and also no mortgage insurance requirement. The biggest thing, it is based on the number of inhabitants of the home, and their total income. In my case, because my fiancé does not yet live with me, her income did not come into play in terms of the limit. While you won't see quite as good of interest rate going this route (I am just below 5%) you will have the advantage of hanging onto your cash. That said, if you have enough saved up to comfortably put down 20%, you will not have to worry about PMI or take a hit on the interest rate. My situation was that I could have cut loose some investments and stretched a bit to get to 20%, but would have depleted my cash in the process. My take on it is that having a pretty significant rainy day fund available should something happen is very valuable given the current economic situation. I also plan on paying down the mortgage relatively quickly, as I can easily make the payments with my income alone, yet will have 2 incomes available to help pay it down.
  19. hung many swings and put many guide lines in trees over the past few years with whatever fishing rod I had laying around, just cast a lead over and reel in your rope, works every time.
  20. closed on tuesday, things went very smoothly, with the exception of the lovely witch at the USDA rural housing office. The loan I did was a rural development backed loan, which is carried through a regular ole mortgate bank, and aproved by the USDA. Basically it is a market interest rate, 30 year fixed loan that is 100% financing & no PMI. They work at their own pace there, I stopped by just to find out what the status was, and they were basically all standing around talking about their favorite tv show, and acted annoyed that I was even there, but that's an entire different thread. We got early occupancy and got some stuff in last weekend, and are going to get the bulk of the other stuff this weekend.
  21. I would google "launch ramp with bleachers" and go wherever you find one. Bring your cooler and a few snacks and it will be a very enjoyable day.
  22. they will wear in with a little chewing. The wisdom teeth thing is a pain, litterally, just ride it out, better than dealing with the severe pain from not getting them out. I had 4 done, during spring break of my senior year of college. They were all impacted. Ended up with 2 black eyes from the procedure......but also a good bottle of drugs. Condine and bourbon do not mix.......trust me, I took apart a car, it is still in pieces..... Other than that, it isn't that big of a deal, just don't schedule anything overly important for about 2 or 3 days following surgery. Also, avoid foods that are grainy in texture for about a week or two, and be sure to clean everything with salt water as they direct, this is the most important part.
  23. is it not a bit early in the day to be hitting the bottle?
  24. That is the exact part that absolutely drives me over the edge. Here I am, dirty, tired, and just wanting to get home after a 12 hour work day, and drink one of my hard earned beers, and I can't, because of these retards........all the while I, and my other working class friends are the ones footing the bill.
  25. swung by the grocery store on the way home to grab a case of beer & a couple of other items. Not suprisingly, only 2 lines were opened, and the store was full. I wait in the shorter of two lines, behind a family of about 10 people, armed with food stamps. They of course have a cart and a half worth of stuff. The cashier proceeds to scan everything as quickly as she can, and the bag boy was doing a heck of a job keeping up and bagging things ina proper manner. Then comes time to pay, and out comes the cute little food stamp card. It kicks back that they are over their quota on not just one or two items, but on over $150.00 worth of goods. The woman who was "paying" for all of this just stood there and told the cashier that she was basically going to have to dig out the overages, because she wasn't going to pay for them. Being that my transaction only took less than a minute, I saw them loading the stuff into their car in the parking lot, and of course they were loading a not very old Cadillac with nice shiney aftermarket wheels on it. I am officially one step closer to either going to jail over such ignorance, or needing to be on happy meds.
