  1. My understanding is that in Florida it is not illegal to drink while operating a boat. However it is not legal to be over the legal limit when operating the boat.

That is the rule in my area. Stay under .08 and you are good to go.

I have been boarded for safety checks by coast guard and local police and neither has commented on open containers at the helm.

  2. I think it is a combination of things.

I think all the brands have come a long way with theri products. However, at the same time, I think we are seeing people move away from outboards for efficiency and technology reasons.

Although the sample size is small, I know of several people that have switched from outboards to single diesels for efficiency. At the same time, I know of plenty that have switched to gass inboards because they are less technologically advanced and people do not need to call MIT when they need service.

Just my casual observations on the matter.

True, when I throw a code there is very little I can do to troubleshoot without the software and a laptop.

Checking for cooling restriction is about it and then if there is one, fire it up and take a test run.

  3. When I joined THT trashing outboards was all the rage. The fichts and the opti pops.

Is it just me or are the newer models (all brands) performing better than predessors?

I am not reading much about any one brand with an issue.

By the way my 2000 Ficht is still running strong.

This is not intened to start bashing of brands.

  4. If I understand correctly, if they held up the disbursement, then they owe you a day of interest because you did not have the funds and continue to accrue interest on the old loan.

But having been through this many a time (no the DL issue) dont waste your time, it is worth more.

    Good deal on the rate.

    Take care.

And as stated above it is not a require to obtain a loan that you have a valid DL, just that under the Patriot Act that your identity can be confirmed by the settlement agent.

  5. On 05/15/2009 I closed on a refinance. Today, what should be funding day, the attorneys office calls and tells me their is an issue with my license that they copied on the day I closed. My license expired on 05/16/2009. I ask what the issue is, my license was valid on the day I closed and dated all documents. The attorney says that the lender wants to see the license valid through the funding day. I ask why, it makes no difference, the license was valid the day I closed, signed, and dated. They say why can't you just send a copy of the new one? Becasue I have not renewed it yet I say.

What say the great minds here - do I have a case to tell the lender to eff off?

    RI

I am a real estate attorney in CT and closing many refinances these days. The answer to your question is 2 part. From a title company standpoint, you are correct. The license is used to confirm your identity. I would submit that even a recently expired license is acceptable along with some other form to confirm your identity.

Now for part two, the lenders have complete idiots working for them and cannot think for themselves. They can only read their checklist and if it states valid license at the end of the recission period, then they will require it. Somewhere in the closing instructions to your attorney it states that he/she cannot disburse their funds unless they have complied with the lenders requirements.

Bottom line, right or wrong, get your license renewed and get them a copy or your loan may not fund. I say may, because some lender may relent and make an exception, however, if it is Provident Funding they will not fund your loan.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

P.S. I hope you got a rate of 4.75 or better if it is a conforming loan.

    Sounds great, Wiley.

Quick question for you. I get a "runtime error" when on the site and it asks me if I want to debug.

    What the heck is this?

    Thanks.

  7. Years ago, I spent several summers working there.

The Gardellas owned both places back then. They probably still do.

I believe that they or their descendents still own it.

We used to be at Oyster Bend and man what a difference it makes to be at the end of the harbor. There is much more to see at Cove for the kids.

    Have a great season.

  8. Weather was in the 80's on Saturday and we hit the 90's on Sunday! That is the good news. The bad news is the boat was still on the hard and I spent most of Saturday with 3M wax in one hand, and a rag in the other!

    Anyway, boat goes in today!

    Same Saturday for me.

Boat gets wet later this week.

    Have a great season
