  1. My buddy Bob snapped this pic last weekend on Clarks Hill lake. I was on the wrong end of the lake to witness it in person. I can only imagine what went through the captain's mind right before the "landing"... "Gee, I don't remember Regina having such a pretty blue bikini last year. I wonder if she is still dating Doofus. My goodness, when she bends over to get a beer out of the cooler you can almost see....SHORE! OH SH!TTTTTT can you say running gear?
  2. Two nights in the Hotel Delrey this weekend...cards, booze, cigars, and beautiful women that don't speak english. I may have to call in to work happy Monday. Happy Fourth of July fellas...
  3. Just filled out my online application for this years alligator season. Three of us applied, so we stand a pretty good chance of getting a permit again this year. Bagged a small one last year, and this year we are going for something a little larger. Anybody else getting in on the harvest this year?
  4. This ol' girl turns fifty this year. Got lots of miles on her, and she aint cherry, but I still like her. Hell, she's a Chevy. They may be extinct one day...
  5. I have worked with this guy for over twenty years, and we have been friends longer than that. This is the only known picture of him with a smile on his face...
  6. I enjoy working on this beast when I'm not working on the boat, or the fishing gear. Although I am no mechanic, the simple assembly of this old truck makes me feel like I am. Very rewarding mentally, after a hard day at work, to replace or repair something on it, or just bang up my knuckles goofing around with it.
  7. Caught this little bastid about to launch onto my bird feeder recently. (Look on top of my trailer guide-on) I don't mind feeding them, but i don't like what they do to my house when they gnaw their way into my attic. Time to sight in the Benjamin again...
  8. Pulling away from the dock, or out of the slip, I like AC/DC "For Those About To Rock" turned up to just under the point of distortion. Kinda gets the crew going, and lets the neighbs know I mean business...
  9. Interesting answer. I think its a redbreast, or redbelly. Looks alot like a shellcracker, but the reddish coloring on the tail is a give-away, as well as the coloring around the mouth (which does not show very good in the photo). Good little fighter, but not as good as a shellcracker. Dang tasty little creature, thats for sure. Thanks for playing 'Spot. Your parting gift is in the mail.
  10. Dangit. I liked Dom. He and Burt Reynolds were pretty funny when they got together on a movie set or talk show. Remember the out-takes from Cannonball Run? They were hilarious to me. Dom would screw the line up, and Burt would slap him across the face. On and on it went...silly, but it made me laugh out loud. Rest in Peace Mr. Deluise.
  11. Very nice post. Add me to the list to visit sometime soon. The picture taken from the high perch, looking down past the climbing shoe to the road below, made my skin crawl. Did I mention I have a problem with heights?
  12. Its threads like this that should make everybody at Reelboating, especially Wiley, pretty happy. Nice job to those involved.
  13. Great question. As soon as somebody gives it a great answer, I will pass it along....I have no clue. For some reason I called it a red cockaded woodpecker, but that is based on....well, nothing. Can anyone help a brother out?
  14. Gotcha. I think I was confusing a couple of birds. I use the Scotts wildbird feed. I noticed that squirrels eat most of the sunflower seeds out of it, so that stops me from using any feed that contains only sunflower seeds. Squirrels are ok to watch, but I don't like what the do to my house when they get in the attic. (anybody want to post that youtube video of the "squirrel launcher slingshot? Ludi?) not the best picture. shaking after work. had not reached my third "calm down" beer yet...
  15. Do you have a bird bath located near the feeder(s)? May help bring in a few other species. Sounds like you have a gracious plenty of birds already! I would have never thought a cowbird would come into a yard to feed at a bird feeder. Is that the big ol' white crane-looking cowbird variety? My neatest so far is a red cockaded (sp) woodpecker that shows up every once in a while. Put in my first bird feeder last year. I can see it from my little hot tub on the back patio. Pretty sweet sitting in the tub after a long day at work, with a cold beer in hand, watching the evening feeding/bathing frenzy. Simple things are the best for me...
  16. Hello, my name is Pat, and I am a VORG addict... This game has really screwed up my life. At first, it was fun. Then I became more and more engrossed in game play. One Saturday morning I woke up at 5:00 am to make boat adjustments because THATS WHEN THE WINDS CHANGE! I beat a local celebrity, Menzoid, in Leg 5, and was so happy I bought my girlfriend a new car later that day. I taped a mast, complete with sail, to one of my dogs back, and put her on the roof of my house, just to learn more about wind effects. I lost my job at the bearing factory because I locked up the work computer trying to download wind predictions from Brazil, and everybodys direct deposit was late by twenty four hours. I hope my story will help one person avoid the hell called Volvo Ocean Race Game. Good luck.
  17. Every year a company I do business with sends me a daily planner. Its 8 1/2" by 11", and each month has two pages dedicated to it. Gives me about two inches square for each day's notes. All I typically record is temps (air and water surface), winds, areas I fished, and results. (Don't need much room for results, but thats another story). Works great for me, and it's cheap! Looking at them from the previous years before a trip gives me an idea where things were happening, and sometimes gives me a little confidence boost. Good luck.
  18. hehehe. Hey, I say fish jump out of the water because it feels good to them. I have lots of theories that are scientifically unproven, but very arguable, IF the drinks are right.
  19. Kenny Perry. (if i done spelt that wrong menzoid please correct me) For what its worth, it is noon here in Augusta on Friday, and the weather is turning nasty. Wind is gusting, and rain is on the way. Bad news for the players, but good news for the bars. Patrons are flooding out of the course, and into the local hangouts. I love this week.
  20. If thats your "poor quality" pictures, I would like to see your good ones! Great pics! Baitfish ball up like that so they can rub against each other, usually because parasites have attached themselves to the bait. The rubbing action allows the baitfish to knock off the irritating parasites. Larger fish, or "gamefish", gather under the bait balls to feed on the falling parasites... if nobody calls BS on this i will die laughing.......that is sooooo stupid have a great weekend
  21. Man, that was quick. Thanks, Ed! A report will be good enough for me at this point.
  22. Hey Dan, We having a saying in Georgia. "If it an't broke, don't fix it". We have lots of sayings, but that one seeems to fit here. Another Georgia saying is "Hold my beer while I get you my license, Officer", but it really does not apply here. Sorry. If you spend the money to get a FF that has a good grayline feature, and maybe even a color display, AND you practice, paying lots of attention to the display, you will be able to better identify fish, structure, bottom contour, and bottom density/composition. I personally don't have time for all that crap while I fish and drink beer. Too much like work to me. I don't like to have all that fancy equipment on board. People expect you to know what you are doing then, and they expect you to catch fish ALL the time. Just too much pressure for me. (Any chance you could post some pictures of your shrimp trap gear, and maybe some shots from on the water doing that? That sounds very, very neat and intersesting to me. Never set a trap for shrimp before. ) Good luck with the fish finder.
