  1. Its worth it boys - better that than the alternative!
  2. We will be attending the Blessing of the Fleet in St Augustine this coming Sunday (Palm Sunday). Staying Saturday night at the Municipal Marina. If you're in the area look up us - PASSAGE.
  3. You know, with the advances in modern science, you would have thought that they would have developed a better way of prepping for a scope! This 64 ounces of laxitive and nothing but jello for 24 hours - all seems a bit primitive!
  4. Unfortunately I also travel a lot. In fact just completed my 17th flight of the year yesterday - and it's only early April! But it keeps the boat in gas!
  5. Unfortunately you folks are correct. There is one particular Mod over on THT that has been there for so long that he now believes he is bigger than the forum itself. when he banned me it was with the comment "don't think anyone within IB is going to argue with me, they won't." When you have a Mod who believes he has that much control, it always ends up a big issue. Wiley, contrary to your point above regarding appointing Mods, I suspect he has been a Mod on THT since your days on THT - since you made him a Mod on ReelBoaring as well - though thankfully he is inactive. Florida Sportman has the same issue - probably worse because I think they ended up hiring an member-Mod and paying him to do the job! now there's your exciting career aspiration!! The sad part is that these guys should have real life jobs and lives. It seems that they don't, and the forum is their life. Sad.
  6. Ahah! Found a schematic late last night. It's actually on the lower cowling schematic of all places. Its called a Priming Pump, part number 895124! So ordered on-line last night along with the retaining nut and hose clip - $25. One of the less expensive boat fixes!
  7. The tiny primer bulb on my 9.9 Mercury has a hole it in and needs to be replaced. I am not talking about the bulb in the line from the tank, but on the front of the engine itself - which you press with your thumb a couple of times before starting. On all of the parts sites a query on primer/bulbs returns only the larger in-line bulbs. So I suspect it may go by another name? It doesn't help that you can't find a schematic of these engines on-line.
  8. Five days in Sin City! Meeting up with two brothers! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - So who has been to the Palamino?
  9. She certainly packed a lot into her 79 years!
  10. Wonder if we will see a response from the players! =============================== Dear NFL Fan, When I wrote to you last on behalf of the NFL, we promised you that we would work tirelessly to find a collectively bargained solution to our differences with the players' union. Subsequent to that letter to you, we agreed that the fastest way to a fair agreement was for everyone to work together through a mediation process. For the last three weeks I have personally attended every session of mediation, which is a process our clubs sincerely believe in. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that earlier today the players' union walked away from mediation and collective bargaining and has initiated litigation against the clubs. In an effort to get a fair agreement now, our clubs offered a deal today that was, among other things, designed to have no adverse financial impact on veteran players in the early years, and would have met the players’ financial demands in the latter years of the agreement. The proposal we made included an offer to narrow the player compensation gap that existed in the negotiations by splitting the difference; guarantee a reallocation of savings from first-round rookies to veterans and retirees without negatively affecting compensation for rounds 2-7; no compensation reduction for veterans; implement new year-round health and safety rules; retain the current 16-4 season format for at least two years with any subsequent changes subject to the approval of the league and union; and establish a new legacy fund for retired players ($82 million contributed by the owners over the next two years). It was a deal that offered compromise, and would have ensured the well-being of our players and guaranteed the long-term future for the fans of the great game we all love so much. It was a deal where everyone would prosper. We remain committed to collective bargaining and the federal mediation process until an agreement is reached, and call on the union to return to negotiations immediately. NFL players, clubs, and fans want an agreement. The only place it can be reached is at the bargaining table. While we are disappointed with the union's actions, we remain steadfastly committed to reaching an agreement that serves the best interest of NFL players, clubs and fans, and thank you for your continued support of our League. First and foremost it is your passion for the game that drives us all, and we will not lose sight of this as we continue to work for a deal that works for everyone. Yours, Roger Goodell

This motor looks like new, is very clean inside and out, has had a carb rebuild, spark plugs replaced and new impeller in the last 2 years. This motor has the all in one tiller, giving you forward, neutral and reverse right from the tiller. This motor would great on a jon boat, gheenoe or as a kicker to a larger boat. Sale will include a brand new prop and merc 3 gallon tank with hose. Cash in person only and I am firm on the price. No trades please.
  12. Great report. Glad you had fun and spent some money in the state!!
  13. This does nor seem to make sense - why did he need to check the bulb when the boat was up and running? RIP those two kids. ================================== Middleburg teens killed after boat crashes into tree Posted: February 22, 2011 By Nicole Hernandez Two Middleburg High School students were killed Monday afternoon after the boat they were riding struck a tree in Clay County's Black Creek, said a spokeswoman with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Spokeswoman Karen Parker said Travis Hanner, 17, and Halee Mickey, 15, both of Middleburg, were sitting in the bow of an 18-foot, 4-inch boat being operated by 49-year-old Ted Hanner. The 1985 Baja bass boat was westbound near Knight's Boat Ramp and Marina about 2 p.m. when the older Hanner, Travis' father, left the controls to pump the fuel bulb, a piece of equipment that helps pump fuel for the motor, Parker said. The boat, which was traveling at a speed sufficient enough for the bow to have risen above the water, veered to the north bank and struck a tree 3 feet off the water. The teens were dead at the scene from severe blunt force trauma, but the spokeswoman said she did not know the details of their injuries. Their principal, David Broskie, said he wants to provide as much normalcy as possible for Middleburg High students. He said Travis, a junior, was involved in ROTC. The principal added that though he did not have much time to get to know Halee, who was in her first year of high school, he described her as quiet, shy, nice and polite. Grief counselors were available since this morning. Ted Hanner, also of Middleburg, was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital and has been released, Parker said. She added that she did not know the extent of his injuries. The spokeswoman said the agency is still investigating the incident and do not know why Hanner left the controls to check the fuel bulb. A Good Samaritan, who didn't wish to speak with the media or be identified, was with a friend and called 911 after seeing them hit the tree. They also started towing the boat with the victims to Black Creek Marina as he stayed on the phone with dispatchers to help guide them to his location. Staying composed, he said two were unconscious and didn't look good, advising them to get the helicopter ambulance ready. He said it appeared to be head injuries. Representatives of both families said they didn't wish to comment this morning as they're still coping with everything.
  14. Sad news. Let's hope the pirates met the same fate. ------------------------------------------------ Reports: All Four Aboard US Yacht Killed by Somali Pirates Feb 22, 2011 9:10 AM CNN and MSNBC were both reporting this morning that all four Americans aboard a yacht hijacked by Somali pirates had been killed. CNN said the hostages were shot during negotiations for their release. The yacht was owned by Jean and Scott Adam. Also on board were Phyllis Macay and Bob Riggle. They had been traveling with yachts participating in the Blue Water Rally since their departure from Phuket, Thailand, rally organizers said Sunday. The group said the Adams' yacht, S/V Quest, broke off last week after leaving Mumbai, India, to take a different route. A U.S. Navy warship and helicopters were trailing a boat believed to be the one that was hijacked by Somali pirates, a senior military official said Monday.

  16. Was on a business trip this past week. I usually take a couple of novels with me. Recently I have been making one of them a "classic." This time is was "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque. If you haven't read it yet, please do. His writing is unbelieveable. Probably like you I often read a novel and think "I could write this," because it is light and easy. Well, I can tell you that I read this book and thought even if I spent a month just focusing on one paragraph I could get any where near replicating this work. There were paragraphs and sections where I went back and reread them over and over before moving on. Not because I didn't understand them but because the writing was just so incredible that you had to stop and go back and read again. It's not that it's a tough read. In fact, it is not going to stretch you to read - but it will get you thinking. And it is one of those books that you will finish, then after a while pick up and read again, and maybe again. I plan to.
  17. Pretty neat site that tracks where a phone is using its GPS feature! Ever wonder where the missus is? http://www.trackapartner.com/
  18. I don't think he will out of a job for very long!! ======================================================== Jeff Fisher Out as Titans Coach By Michael David Smith The longest-tenured coach in the NFL is on the way out, as Jeff Fisher and the Titans have agreed to part ways, the team announced Thursday. Don Banks of SI.com first reported that Fisher would be leaving the Titans -- with the only issue that needs to be ironed out between Fisher and Titans owner Bud Adams, according to Banks, being whether the coach's departure will be termed a firing, a resignation or a mutual decision. Adams had announced shortly after the regular season ended that Fisher would be retained into 2011. But things apparently have changed since then. Fisher has had trouble holding together his coaching staff, with several assistants leaving for other jobs, and there are still lingering issues regarding the team's quarterback. In early January, Adams announced that Tennessee would move on without Vince Young -- though Adams specifically said that the team would handle its QB and coaching situations separately. But Adams has always liked Young, and this could result in Young staying. Fisher had a record of 142-120 in the regular season and 5-6 in the playoffs
  19. Ane the mystery is solved. wonder why they didn't 'fess up immediately! ----------- USDA Acknowledges Poisoning Birds in South DakotaJan 21, 2011 1:12 PM Hugh Collins Authorities have solved the mystery of the death of thousands of birds in South Dakota and come up with a surprising killer: the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Inhabitants in Yankton were surprised when they found hundreds of starlings lying frozen on the streets and in the city's Riverside Park, MSNBC reported. Some people thought the birds had simply left it too late to fly south for the winter. Now, the USDA says it set out poisoned bait for the birds after a local farmer complained that they were defecating in his animal feed. "They say that they had poisoned the birds about 10 miles south of Yankton, and they were surprised they came to Yankton like they did and died in our park," says Yankton Animal Control Officer Lisa Brasel. There has been a string of mass animal deaths so far this year, from dead fish in the Detroit River to red-winged blackbirds falling from the sky in Arkansas and Louisiana. In Yankton, the starlings made the area look like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, witness Alison Brown said. "The street where we park and the sidewalks were just covered with them," Brown said. The USDA says the dead birds do not pose a threat to any animal that might eat them, such as house cats. The agency does not typically poison animals, but felt it made sense in this case, USDA biologist Ricky Woods said, according to Reuters. "Lethal means are always a last resort," Woods said. "In this situation it's what we had to do."

  23. Here is the latest status on the delayed launch of Discovery. What kind of traffic are they talking about? Other satellites, debris? Seems strange that they can't launch because of "traffic at the station?" ==================== LAUNCH UPDATE: Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 11:00 a.m. ET Managers have determined that Discovery will launch NO EARLIER THAN February 24, but a target launch date for the mission has still not been set. The schedule depends in part on traffic at the International Space Station during that time frame. Space shuttle Discovery remains in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) as modifications and repairs are made to the external fuel tank's support beams known as "stringers." Additional support structures, called radius blocks, are being added to 94 stringers, meaning the entire circumference of the external tank will be strengthened by the time all the repairs and modifications are finished.
