  1. All the info above is right on target...match two group 31 deep-cycle batteries, mount those batteries as close to the trolling motor as reasonably possible (too far forward will cause too much bumping/bouncing)...make sure your connections are GOOD and maintain them...and hook them up to a good, waterproof onboard charger...mine stays plugged in 24/7 until I'm ready to use the boat...my boat has 4 batteries and two onboard chargers...

  2. At the risk of sounding like my boat is falling apart (see Marine Advesive thread), my leaning post cushion is coming apart at the seams. Until I get up the nerve to spend the money to get a new one, is there a good tape I could use as a temporary patch? I assume duct tape would shrink, leaving the residue on the outside. The spot is right where you sit, so it gets high use. Thanks.

The damage being right where you sit...I'd say go ahead and work up the nerve...anything you do will look like POOP and last about as long...

  3. Does that switch just control your accessories, or is the camera angle hiding the cables to the motor?

Inquiring mind wants to know. Thanks!

Kamper...sorry so long on the reply...

It controls the main cables to the motor and all accessories...bilge pump is on another battery...hope that satisfies an inquiring mind...

  4. Used the ramp at the Ocean Isle, NC bridge several times over a couple of week period recently...was coming out on a busy day to find a non-towing Durango partially blocking my exit...as I got closer, he pulled forward a bit, which actually CLOSED UP my available opening, but I knew I still had room to make it, although CLOSE, so I proceeded ahead, which caused me to go straight at the Durango until the last moment, then cut and slip through...the driver was a little shocked and as I went by him realized he was a DNR Officer in an unmarked (blue lights on the dash and him in uniform)...he had been sitting there in that much traffic, adding to the congestion, chatting w/some guy walking past...he gave me a look and I gave him a look right back and said, "Have a nice day" as I went by...seems those guys should be the LAST ones to add to the confusion at a busy ramp...

  5. i have a 24v minn kota hooked up to 2 odyssey pc1200 batteries. my minn kota seems to be drawing power when the motor is off. when i disconnect the negative lead from the motor it sparks a bit. why is that? i have had to replace the board in the motor a few times but was super careful to reconnect it properly.

Trolling motors should be installed w/a plug-in (or disconnect)...I've always used a SS 3-prong male/female plug

Unplug while charging and leave unplugged except while in use...my batteries are on an onboard charger until time to use the boat...

  6. Just bought another boat, it was included in the sale(not the primary power) and doesn't do anything when hooked to a battery. Never tinkered with an electric trolling motor before. Any suggestions/ideas before I pull it apart. THANKS

If it's a basic tiller-handle unit, you'll probably get it goin', but some of the auto-pilot, co-pilot jobs on the market today are fairly sophisticated for a first tinkerin' project...get power straight to the motor 1st to see if it even runs...JMHO...Good luck and let us know how it worked out...

  7. Pay close attention to the time of day showing in the upper right of the video; there seems to have been some "selective editing" done to that particular clip; over a full minute missing between the time he uses the radio and the time he tased her. I'd like to see the ENTIRE tape before drawing any firm conclusions.

I saw enough to conclude she asked for it...being a "72 year old woman" (how many times didja hear that in the tape) doesn't absolve you of speeding and being an obnoxious @$$hole... she called 'em all LIARS til she saw the video...then she shut up and sat down..... ya think??...

  8. We live in the sticks on a cul de sac...neighborhood split up in 5 acre lots...you gotta be lookin' to find us...I was doin' some yardwork down by the road recently when a car pulls up (rare), guy gets out and starts walkin' around...he has a tag around his neck...I ask if I can help him. Turns out he's one of 100,000 people nationwide hired by the census bureau to enter your and my front door into a GPS database as a waypoint...Google up GPS Front Door...

Started 2 1/2 yrs ago under Bush and recently funded by Stimulus dollars, Big Brother is here folks...he walked up my front driveway to w/in 40' of the front door and entered the numbers...could I have legally shot him for trespassing?...j/k, but it did bother me... :471_confused_face:

If the street in front of your house is w/in 40' of your door, they don't even have to get outta the car... <_<

  9. I've been w/DTV since it was Primestar...rainfade is a small annoyance and from what I see at other peeps house and hear about cable, it's well worth putting up with...lease the equipment (if lease is still available)...that way when something goes wrong (rare) it's theirs to fix...we've had it so long we've gone thru several remotes and receivers...w/4 tvs in the house it ain't hard to do...

When we 1st moved out here to the STICKS, I called cable...their service stops 1/2 mile up the road. They told me I had to get all my neighbors to sign a petition to bring cable on down the road. I said, "So I gotta do your work for you?"...not seeing anything wrong w/that, the rep said yes...I hung up and called Primestar (at the time) and been happy for 20 years... :1947_eating_popcorn_and_drinkin

  10. From the looks of it they really weren't prepared. Cheapest life vests you can get. And the guy wearing the throwable cusion with it on his back.... smack your head and your face down in the water. I guess they didn't have enough vests for everyone on the boat......

I noticed that...just didn't wanna kick 'em while they're down...but it does look pretty bleak in the PFD department...good thing they didn't have to spend anytime in the drink...the guy w/the blue throwable woulda had a tough time...glad all are well...
