  1. Welder, the Nordhavn brand is a fantastic boat, but looking for something more along the lines of sportier....I feel the Nordhavn line is better suited for extremely long trips around the world or across the Atlantic.
  2. Homesite should be running a few steps faster than me for sure, he has quad 350s on a very fast hull, and I am sitting with trip 300's. I think a real good race would be the trip 350 Verado Invincible vs. him, but that's up to Invincible and Homesite if they wana run 'em. It would be a fantastic race. On the yacht topic, I appreciate the honest advice. These are just some options of boats to get us to the outer islands a little more comfortably than the Bayou , but I will definitely stay in an Invincible for near island and coastal fishing. Isn't Hatteras owned by Brunswick now? I've heard the quality has suffered a bit...however I think a big point of interest would be something that cruises in the high 20's, low 30's. The Pershing looks very slick and they are quite the performers, but I've heard bad things about Sunseeker. I can smell sportfishermen boats a mile away, but when it comes to cruisers I really have no clue where to start as far as reputable brands are concerned. I have a buddy that worked on an Azimut and he said it was a POS.
  3. What are quality brands of yachts in the 55'-85' ft. range for cruising? I'm talking like the Azimut, Pershing, Lazzara, Ferretti, etc. Any opinions?
  4. 18,000 lbs. for a 37 ft. boat? What the hell is that thing made of? Cast iron? For having quintuple 350 HP outboards and only going in the 80's is the saddest thing I've ever seen. Midnight should really go back to the drawing boards and put something that makes sense on that already useless boat. From where Midnight started (being a pretty good boat) to now, you couldn't give that thing to me at what it cost to build it. I will say it now, if Homesite races this boat he will win hands down. And he'll probably win even more after a few miles when a motor or 2 falls off the Midnight but maybe the Midnight will pick up speed when it has a sensible number of motors hanging off the transom. And as for the 'haters', nobody cares about 5 engines on a boat. Anyone with a brain knows it was the most ignorant idea, especially if they expect the boat to run and be reliable. As for government contracts, Invincible has been rewarded a number of orders from the government on its new quad 42 coming out.
  5. Surprised to only see one step under that thing. I have a buddy who has had an order on one for over a year. He orders when he takes deliery of his current Intrepid so who knows what he'll order when he gets his 40. Invincible will have a 42 coming out very soon with a few versions available...one being a walkaround, another being a center console.
  6. I have triple 300's. Please let me know what specific questions you have, not sure exactly what you'd like to know. Mike
  7. More reason to buy a better hull & boat..........see signature for more details
  8. Very sad. I always frequent that marina & have my Mercury warranty work done there, I live a 10 minute boat ride away.
  9. NavNet 3D!!! For your radar, it depends what uses you want out of it. If you want to look for birds, you'll need an open array radar - 4' antenna and 6-12 kw is enough. If you're only interested in weather/other boats/navigational obstructions, a dome antenna will suit you fine and save you some money.
  10. K, I just figured out I can get an ACR type B unit to broadcast my position and such to work in correspondence with the MMSI number. I am not as concerned about that stuff as I am about making sure my VHF can broadcast my position in case I need to make an SOS call in addition to my EPIRB SOS and Sea Key SOS.
  11. Here's a topic I haven't ever seen here: I just found out through the fine folks at Inletcam.com that the vessels seen on Marinetraffic.com can be identified through having registered an MMSI number. In order to do so, you have to have a DSC VHF radio (mine has the SOS button so I know it is that type), have it connected to GPS, so the radio can broadcast your coordinates digitally in the event you put out a distress signal. Now, I have a security device on the boat that tracks me via satellite and I can do it through there, and I have an EPIRB as well, but I like to use my equipment to the best of its ability and for what it was built for. My Furuno GPS is this type and I want to use it as such - plus the InletCam chat board members would love to track me via Marine Traffic.com. It looks like they use the MMSI to achieve coordinates of the vessels which are equipped and registered for it. My question is: I assume there is a way to program my personal MMSI number into my VHF. Can my Furuno VHF communicate with my Furuno NavNet VX2 in order for it to know my coordinates, heading, speed, etc.? Once I program the VHF with MMSI and know that it is connected with my NavNet, will my boat show up on Marinetraffic.com so friends, family members, and whoever else can track my progress when I travel offshore? Does the VHF have to be on at all times? There are many icons that show boat names like "SaltShaker" and shows it is at the dock at 0.0 kts. Lastly, this seems like a great feature for those who have digital VHF radios to enhance your security on your boat in case of an emergency and realistically you could track your boat online if it gets stolen, but I already have other means of that. Also forgot to mention I have a Furuno NavPilot on the boat that might also assist in the process, but I am not sure of all of this, that is why I am asking. Input?
  12. Welcome aboard, vendors...look forward to doing business.
  13. Go with Petro @ Yacht Lights.....no doubt. I have Ocean LEDs pointing straight down and they are bright....I need a pair for my transom. Need a sponsor, too...lol.
  14. Nooooooo twitter for me. I'm with Chris on this one. I'm good. I'm fine. I'll just find out the updates from you on inletcam.com.
  15. He is very lucky, his boat would have been stripped and that was that.
  16. That's the point of the name - it's a clever way to say "Blew By You", spelled out Blue Bayou. Give the credit to Rob Hammer for naming the boat.
  17. Had a small warranty issue and SunDance took care of one of my Verados....diagnosed right in front of me, ordered the parts, and did the repair immediately. Could not ask for easier, better, quicker, and more courteous service.
