  1. I seen that earlier. I can't imagin that happening. If it comes to pass I'll have about 4K worth of fishing equipment that will not be worth anything. Not to mention I won't need a fishing boat that will not be worth anything. Just Can't imagin that would happen. The economics down fall would be devistating. However, The special intrest groups have a lot of money and backing. And they don't fish But then what do I know?? I'm just a voter and I will vote again
  2. Anybody tried one of these automatic boat retrievel latches? seems like it whould be great for lauching and retreiving the boat by myself. If so what do you think? no, I'm not accociated with the company in any way. http://www.snapperboatlatch.com/index.html
  3. What are people thinking?? This is very sad. I hopoe all are OK http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/02/18/texas.plane.crash/index.html?hpt=T1
  4. If you try it, let us know what you think?? http://shop.fuelmedics.com/product.sc?productId=1
  5. Reel Boating flags for the boat That would be cool. We can idenify others Reel Boaters on the water. perhaps have cold one!! What do you think Whiley?? High visability Just thinking, the little woman is out of town this weekend and I have too much time on my hands. You know, nobody here to tell me what to do.
  6. I was thinking waxing would add some level of protection and make cleaning alot easer. Did the bristle brush thing for cleaning, works great. I did not wax the whole deck. Making the deck slippery makes scence to me now. No wax on the deck. Thanks guys, Yall just made my day (when it stops raining)alot easier.
  7. I cleaned and waxed the boat last fall. Had a hard time waxing the deck with the raised diamend patern. Seems it was a pain in the a$$ trying to get the wax from between the diamond patern on the deck and on the top of the gunnel. Is there a better way to get the job done or do I just get a 12 pack and go at it. Thanks
  8. Actually someone does make an condenced version of what you are talking about. I was given one last year by a fellow boater, I think it was on here on RB. About 4"x3" with peel and stick on the back side. Applyed it to the front of my electrinocs box in full view. The content was info. given out during a "Mayday" call. Maby a boating store such as West marine carries them or perhaps CC auxiliary. Very good to have. If the captian becomes disabled a passenger could have the ability to call for help. Good idea
  9. We have been warned ............ Now I'm having flash backs Soooooooooooooo true
  10. Old Bay seasoning boil does it for me. Frogmore stew????? Please tell me it's not what I'm thinking!!! Can someone elaberate? I gots to know. I have a Golden Frog Retriever and a Chesapeake Bay Frog Retriever. BTW---Whitch are versital and very well trained. They can stalk and take lizzards by surprise as well. These boys are good. Maby it will supliment my food bill
  11. I think the reason for lower traffic here is that there is fewer members than some (and growing) and more than other for other sites. I think you will find the quailty and the friendly responces here at Reel Boating are far above some other sites. That said, For example, If you make a post on let say THaT other site. Be prepaired for agressive responces and negative attitudes. I must say there are some that will offer some good advice. Some poeple are drawn to negativity and smart a$$ remarks. It makes for good intertainment for some. Thus, very little good advice comes from sites that have that type of personality. It's just no more than intertainment. I will not post on THaT other site for that reason. Some people see their glass as half empty. However, here at Reel Boating you not find a negitive inviroment. The boaters here will help anyone, not trash them regardless of the question or post. Yea, there is some fun poking here. But it is all in fun. Fun is what it is all about. If you will visit more often there are good postings and responces. Get to know these fellow boaters. There great and most helpful. Just my 2 cents, I mean no harm Now I have to get back to reading the posts. Rusty
  12. Me, I'm here about 5-6 times daily. Can't get enough.
  13. Wiley------anything you can add to that?? very good info Thanks
  14. I wonder how step the channel drops off on each side at the rocks? I just don't see much room for error. For the captains who use that inlet
  15. Here you go The Economy is so bad..... I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?" CEOs are now playing miniature golf. If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them. Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM. Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names. A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico. Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. Congress says they are looking into this Bernie Madoff scandal. Oh Great!! The guy who made $50-Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5-Trillion disappear! And, finally... I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.
  16. Thats good information Hope I never have to use either one. Thanks guys
  17. OK, I have boating off and on about 30 years. Never been in a situation to call for help. I know "Mayday" and when to use it. however, It's not clear to me how many and what other distress calls there are and the situation to use them. example "Pan Pan" Can someone list and disscribe?? Thanks
  18. I'm with you Osprey, Stuffing the bow was my first thought. Possibly getting turned broudside to the waves. That inlet does not look very wide. No room for mistakes with boulders on both sides. The captians have bigger gonads than I do. Hats off to them. That's not their first trip. The coast guard doesn't seem to concerned with swells. Just the safty of the crew and the passengers. Awsome
  19. I have no idea why anyone would use this inlet!! NOT ME. Check out the rollers in the back ground. Sorry if posted before http://www.justkeepfishing.com/Depoestrom.html
  20. Thanks Ron Now that I think about it, Yes, it did say it will accept a g2 chip. Just did not see it in the product name. However, it is in the features capibilities. Need to pay better attenion to what I'm reading. It's a ADHD thing. Thanks Butch, I'll give Jim a call in a few weeks Thanks everyone for your responces. As usual, Great information and members.
  21. I missed the bus on this one........It's not clear to me the feature of a chart plotter on a GPS . My question is, How does this work and application? Actually, I am looking at a Garmin 421s GPS/sounder ( it does not have chart plotter capability ). Should I consider a chart plotter feature on a GPS? My budget is around $500 +/-. I will not be off shore no more than about 15-20 miles max (weekend warrior). Thanks
