  1. Good God Randy! How many engines run on that Hat? good ta see ya. JR
  2. Here is the sea trial of a brand new Bow Picker on a flat calm Bellinghan Bay destined ta catch lots of those Copper River Salmon, outa Cordova AK in April 2009. The chase boat is a fairly light weight welded aluminum 18 footer with a Yamadinger 150 HP that runs out at 32 knots give or take. The Bowpicker is powered by twin 496 cubic inch BBCs with Hamilton Jets so it can run in the shallow water of the Copper River delta. Notice how it walks away from the chase boat when he cracks the throttles on those hungry BB Chevvys. The engines the fishermen wanted to use were Yanmar Diesels, but the Communists in Central Corntrol requied the gas powered union built engines fer safety or some such upside down reason, like Nanny Gubmint tends ta require from time to time. Here is the linc. JR
  3. With IOs ya can pick up yer out drives and avoid dingin' up yer wheels on rocks as well as directional corntrol (as has been mentioned). As ta keep it simple stooopid: inboards are very simple straight forward, n' therefore reliable unless the water gets a bit shallow, (don't those rivers get shallow ocaisionally: Joe)? Me thinks ya need twin black boat anchors fer yer power, (since yer in fresh water n' all). Me over priced $.02 JR
  4. Hey Swifty, I agree. Notin' wrong with a few missfits here n' there. JR
  5. Hey Joe. I have always protected the tranny while towin' too, (and I know it increases tranny life regardless of the comments to the corntrary). That said, some folks like ta werk on and maintain their holes in the water more then the rest of us. So whatever floats their boats is fine with me!!! Side note: I decided not to throw the 1500 on the little b'hole I told ya I bought, as the 1250 skeered me enough (chine walkin' 60 MPH + or -) so I picked up a sweet Glasply Cuddy which has the 12" jack plate where I hung the ol' 1500 on rather then killin' meself on the lighter boat. I can now go crabbin' n' chasin' salmon with Bro HO in the sound this summer. Good ta see ya. JR
  6. Some sort of transom saver is a must, or yer jus' askin' fer eventual expensive repairs. Especially if you tow a lot (even over paved roads). It is simple geometry, and even though ya think there is no problem you are really stressing out the tranny with 400-500 lbs swingin' around, (much more on twin engines). I have a 12" off tranny jack plate, which really increases stress on a very light 270lb single 150 HP OB, (n' a 25 HP kicker which adds another 100 lb + or -). I have made the transom very strong but wouldn't think of a tow without a brace to hold the weight from werkin' the old beast back and forth. Me overpriced $.02. JR
  7. I didn't plan to "start" anything with anyone there: Purdy Lady, in fact: I don't believe I addressed you at all other then to say: Hey! As to: frfs, (who I did address), I didn't use any profanity, I merely acknowledged the truthfulness of the first sentence of yer post #26, (yer own werds: Sir), nor did or do I intend to use any profanity I jus' called a spade a spade, (which I always do). Hopefully yer not sooooooo sensative ta cornsider that profane as well. BTW, I also don't need any lectures, (thank you very much n' I will let you know if I decide I need some help from you or others in the future) from those who I didn't address, or those who I did address, (fer that matter). Me over priced $.02. JR
  8. Re post #26. Thought I smelled somethin' strong! Eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww. Hello fellers. U 2 truth challenged one. (F****y r**h f*** st***)
