  10. Those who know me we're probably expecting a ton of content already posted here on ReelBoating when it opened. Actually there are a couple of reasons I've decided to have a soft-start to the new forum and not fill it up with a zillion features yet. Here's why. Firstly, I fully honored and respected my no-compete clause, even going as far as not mass-informing vendors or others that I had a new forum planned to open. Sure, a few people suspected that it was inevitable, but I didn't broadcast it. Now that the chains are off the Power Buys, Get-togethers and giveaways etc will soon follow. Secondly, I will NOT be using vBulletin software. The software I am using for ReelBoating (IPB) is the next best thing. However, IPB has a 100% totally new version of this forum software ready to roll out in the next few months so rather than doctor it all up right now I am going to stick with the basic modifications until that time. Your posts, articles, photos etc WILL carry over to the new forum layout so please post away as usual. Lastly, I want us all to build this forum together. Yes, I have a bucket full of ideas and plans, but we'll roll them out over the next few weeks. Enjoy!

  12. Everyone is welcome to join in our Reel Boating Community. I know many people have missed the camaraderie we've had in the past. One thing I have noticed since the sale of THT 2 years ago is that many new boating & fishing websites have opened up in hopes of trying to grab some of the crowd who became disgruntled with THT. With Reel Boating I want what we build here to stand on it's own merit. I'd rather not simply be a refugee area for those who are unhappy with other sites and now trying this one. In the same token, Reel Boating will not be THT Version 2.0 Certainly most web forums have similarities but ReelBoating will not operate using the blueprint of any other website. We will be innovative - and more than likely duplicated once again. So, I am asking. Please don't use the ReelBoating Forum simply as a refugee area from other boating and fishing websites. There are other good sites for that. Some opened right after the THT sale. And please refrain from bashing THT or any other forum. It's time to put all the mess behind us and build a Community even stronger than before.
  13. Wiley's Welcome Hello. Most of you know me as Wiley, the Founder of The Hull Truth Boating Forum. I was the sole owner and operator of The Hull Truth for 7 years. Two years ago several circumstances (including an overwhelming amount of work hours) required that I accept an outside offer from a large company to sell THT. The concept was simple, the buyer would use their own company staff along with my assistance and continue to operate the forum in the manner of which I created it. We worked on the terms and discussed the conditions. Everything looked great so the deal was made. Soon after the sale however I found sale things did not go quite as we discussed. While I won't go into any specifics, and do not wish to dwell on the past, I will say that after the sale I was disappointed with how many things on the forum had either changed or faded away. Where the original goal was to have a company come in to run the bigger operations of the forum (tech, sales, legal) and my objective was to continue as a large part of the daily operations (as they even stated publicly in a forum post), let's just say it didn't work out that way and the forum slipped away from my original philosophy - with me no longer even part of the daily involvement. Fast-forward 720 days.......... Since I never wanted my last forum to turn in the direction it did with such great people on board I have decided once again to put my 7+ years of boating forum skills back to use with my new web forum - ReelBoating.com. It's time to build bigger and better with fresh ideas, new features, and bringing back some of the old philosophies which made the last forum so successful. OK - Moving on from the past. Welcome back to those who have faith I will again deliver a great product, and welcome to those who I have yet to met online. I' once again look forward to building the strongest, most informative boating forum community from the "stringers" up with all of you. Thanks for visiting!
