Aluminium or Stainless Prop?

Recommended Posts

  • 6 years later...

Aluminum props are popular due to their affordability and versatility.
They are generally lighter than stainless steel props, which can improve acceleration and fuel efficiency. They are more also forgiving if you accidentally hit an underwater obstacle, as they are more likely to bend rather than break.

Stainless steel props are known for their durability. They are more resistant to corrosion and wear than aluminum props and provide better overall performance, including increased top speed and improved handling.

If you operate in saltwater or brackish water, stainless steel is a better choice because it resists corrosion better than aluminum.
Whereas stainless steel props are often preferred for high-performance boats or boats with high-horsepower engines.
