Ok Parents: What Would U Do?

24 posts in this topic

So, to those who say the parent was absolutely in the wrong, do you ever let a 10, 11, 12 year old child out of your sight? Are they allowed to go in a store by themselves? Are they allowed to go down to the shoreline alone with a minnow net? Can they ride their bikes to a friends house? When and how do you teach independence and decisionmaking skills? Not that what this parent did is right, but I agree with Mensies to a degree. Why is this abandonment and walking to school not?

I am not a parents, but I recall a time when I was in my aunt's car and my cousin(brother and sister) were fighting. The brother was the one causing the problem, so he had to get out and walk home while we followed him in the car.. His lesson was learned while still being safe from the rapists that live on every street corner.

Putting them out of the car and then following them is EXACTLY what I was going to suggest she should have done. That would have made her point while protecting her daughters. Personally, there's no way in hell I'm leaving two young girls alone like that.

Was it criminal? No, but it was at a minimum a very stupid thing to do. I wonder what the mother would have been charged with if some psycho had watched her put those kids out of her car followed by his raping and murdering them?

A very very stupid and possible cruel thing to do. She is so lucky nothing happened. You would think an attorney would use better judgement. I am going to guess this is not going to sit well with her employer.
